JoAnn Field

-

JoAnn Field, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016. She was born July 5, 1924, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Earl and June Bixler.

She grew up living in Oklahoma and Kansas, where her father worked in the oil fields. She graduated from high school in Ramona, Okla., and went to Bartlesville Business College.

She married her high school sweetheart, Gene Field, Nov. 20, 1943. She would say it was her greatest accomplishment in life to have such a smart and caring husband who has totally devoted the last several years to caring for her.

They spent most of their married life in Ulysses, Kan. She worked for Pioneer Electric Corporation for 18 years. Prior to Gene’s retirement with Amoco Oil Company, they were transferred to Cairo, Egypt, and lived there for almost three years. Both of these places to live were not overly appealing to her, but she enjoyed life and had some very good experiences. Bella Vista has always been their favorite place to live, but they also spent time in Florida.

Her interests included golfing, cruising the Bella Vista lakes and Beaver Lake. She loved doing yard work and keeping a spotless home. They were voted to have the best yard one year when they lived in Rogers. She was a dog lover, bird enthusiast, enjoyed home decorating, reading and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gene Field; two children, David Field and wife Lonna of Brooksville, Fla., and Debby Keaton and husband Larry of Bella Vista; a brother, J.C. Bixler; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Village Bible Church in Bella Vista. A viewing preceded the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village Bible Church, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd. Bella Vista, AR 72715.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
