Fall has finally arrived in the Ozarks, and there is nothing like it. What a wonderful place to live and play. Aren’t you glad you are one of the fortunate folks to live in Bella Vista? Sometimes I feel like we are God’s chosen people and this is the Promised Land. And it just gets even better in the fall.

Things are really hopping at the Bella Vista Library. We had a Pumpkin Painting Party the second Saturday of October, and there were more than 100 kids and 60 parents. I still don’t know where we put them all, but everyone had a blast. Have I mentioned lately that we need more room?

We had our 10th annual Spooktacular Sunday afternoon, and it was bigger and better than ever. Families enjoyed the Witch’s Cottage, a Cemetery, a Mad Science Lab, a Wagon Train ride and a Pumpkin Patch. We also had ghostly games, creepy crafts and spooky stories. We had lots of kids and lots of fun. A special thanks to Bailley Kinser and her parents for helping make this event so fun. We are already looking forward to next year.

Our Patriotic Bella Vista flag display will be put up this week. We have 52 American flags that will line Dickens Place for two weeks, including Veterans’ Day Nov. 11. We are so appreciative of our servicemen and servicewomen and are proud to honor them this way. We invite all our veterans and their families to join us for a reception at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. Please come and enjoy refreshments and entertainment. Just our way of saying “Thank you” for your service to our great country.

The same day we take down the flag display, the Friends of the Library Christmas Basket Silent Auction will begin. The auction will run from Nov. 16 to Dec. 10. There will be approximately 100 beautiful baskets for you to bid on. This is a great way to do your Christmas shopping while helping the Friends of the Library raise money for our expansion.

Speaking of expansion, while all of these events are going on, we still have our regular events like Homeschoolers’ Corner, Color My World, Brainteasers, Book Clubs, Library After Dark and Silly Songs & Stories, just mention a few. Of course, we always have lots of books, magazines and DVDs to check out, so stop by and enjoy our busy, crowded library. We’ll make a place for you. See you at the Library!
