False narratives creating a new U.S.

-

In response to Dale Lang’s letter in the Nov. 30 issue of The Weekly Vista regarding “false narratives,” I am amazed that people would hail Donald Trump (a billionaire businessman) as a champion of the working class. It’s a testament to how talented a manipulator he is.

The fear (and it is a REAL fear) is the democracy — government of, by and for the people — is disappearing, or actually, that it has disappeared. And the truth is, we may never get it back. That’s what frightens people. It may express itself in many various (and sometimes unfortunate) ways, but the fear is real.

Back in the 1950s, President Eisenhower warned his nation to beware the military-industrial complex because it would destroy democracy. His words were prophetic. We are seeing it now: A billionaire businessman is in control of the White House. He is ensconcing his billionaire friends, former Wall Street bankers and hedge fund managers, and military men who’s intentions are not peaceful. They are not going to “drain the swamp” as claimed; they ARE the swamp.

What we have now (and have had for decades) is not democracy, but an oligarchy — rule by a small, elite group, educated at the “right” universities, possessing lots of money. They are the rich and super-rich, whose god is money and whose mission is to stay in power and make more money.

They will decide what the majority of Americans need and when they need it, and they are not kind masters. They will continue to ration education and medical care. They will make war, sending our sons and daughters (not their own) to war because war is profitable. They will use the police and military to control us. And it won’t be long before, under guise of “law and order,” any and all protest will be silenced.

Last, but not least, the “enemy press,” those who would tell you the truth, will be destroyed. The elite will simply buy it.

And whenever we (the working class) turn on and fight each other, the elite are happy.

They win. Peggy Jo Averso Bella Vista
