Michael Paul Scheafbauer
Michael Paul Scheafbauer, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016. He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Herreid, S.D., to Michael and Margret Scheafbauer, the fourth of 11 children.
He attended South Dakota State University, in their Electrical Engineering program, until entering the Navy in 1942. He served on the USS Randolph CV-15, an aircraft carrier, in the Pacific Theater throughout the war.
After the war, he worked as an electrician for the Milwaukee RR in Mobridge, S.D., and then in Savanna, Ill., for 10 years. In 1957 he moved his family to Milwaukee, Wis., and worked for the Louis-Allis Company in various engineering and sales positions.
In 1997 he and his wife, Marcella, moved to Bella Vista, Ark. He enjoyed being a handyman and gardener. He had a tool for every task and willingly lent them out along with his expertise. He enjoyed doing projects for his children all over the country and golfing. He and Marcella enjoyed dancing.
He was preceded in death by Marcella, his wife of 71 years, in April.
Survivors include his three children, Sally Wolfe, David Scheafbauer and Paul Scheafbauer; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Rosary service was held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 31 at St. Bernard Catholic Church followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m.
