Ronald Robert Brenny, 82, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, after a battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 3, 1935, to Ted and Marcella Siegmund Brenny.

He spent most of his life in Cloquet, Minn., and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1952. He attended Duluth Business University and was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he spent two years. He participat­ed in boot camp at Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith, Ark., and got his hair cut at the same place Elvis Presley did. He began working with his father in 1952 and spent the next 40 years with Brenny-Dahl Block & Ready Mix Co.

He married Avis Compton in 1974. The two were avid golfers and loved fishing trips to Canada and traveling the States. Retiring in 1992, they moved to Bella Vista. He belonged to many golf leagues (and had two hole-in-ones), spent 15 years with Crime Watch in Bella Vista, and belonged to St. Stephen Church in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He spent the last 10 years of his life driving for Avis Rental Cars.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Myles Brenny of Atlanta.

He is survived by his wife, Avis, of Bella Vista; two stepsons, Scott LaPerre and wife Julie of Plano, Texas, and Patrick LaPerre and wife Jennifer of Rogers, Ark.; two grandchild­ren, Natalie and Ian LaPerre of Plano; a sister, Marcia LeMay of Proctor, Minn.; a brother, Loren Brenny and wife Astrid of Moorhead, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Brenny of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service will be at a later date.

Cremation arrangemen­ts were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

The Family would like to thank Mercy Hospital, Highlands Oncology Group, Highlands Rehabilita­tion Center, and Circle of Life for their service and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons can be made to Circle of Life or the American Cancer Society.
