Dr. Suess Read Across America Night

Those who are 6, 16, 64, and more can come and celebrate the joys of reading on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Readers of all ages are encouraged to celebrate with this year’s book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” Our reading party at the Bella Vista Public Library will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. March 2. Michelle Henning and Ellen Farwell will be guest readers for the evening. Tax Coach

For the remaining Thursdays in February, the Tax Coach will be here from 9 a.m.-noon to offer personaliz­ed help with taxes. This event is a first-come, first-served basis.

Pokemon Club

If you love Pokemon, come battle and trade cards at the Bella Vista Public Library. This group meets at 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of the month. Ages 6-11.

Poetry Class

This class is designed to showcase the power of poetry and teach young minds how to concoct their own poetic verses. Tuesday mornings 10 a.m. Ages 8-13. Please register for this event at the front desk or at www.bvpl.org

Bella Vista Traveling Library

The Bella Vista Public Library now has a homebound delivery service. The library will provide materials to any resident of Bella Vista who is confined to their home or convalesce­nt center due to illness, injury or disability. Anyone interested in this service can call the library at 479-855-1753 or email program coordinato­r Argie Willis at awillis@ bellavista ar.gov.

Young Readers

This children’s book club is perfect for readers in grades 3-5. They meet at 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month and are always excited to welcome new members.

New Foreign Policy Group

Members are sought for a monthly foreign policy discussion group that will meet at the library. The group will choose topics from “The Great Decisions” publicatio­n available at www.fpa.org. For more informatio­n, call Bob and Nancy Brown, 479-8553729, or Mike Stenson, 479855-0299.

Knitters and Crocheters

Knitter and crocheter wannabes are invited to brush up on their skills and learn some new techniques from 1 to 3 p.m. every Tuesday. Novices will be guided by experience­d knitters and crocheters. Participan­ts may bring their current projects or start a new one. Attendees must bring their own supplies.

Rocket Languages are now offered through the website. This language-learning service offers online courses for 15 different languages. All that is needed is a library card to access it.

Mystery Book Club

This book club is perfect for all mystery lovers. They meet at 4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month.

Color My World

This creative and relaxing event is a way to unwind. Adult coloring is a great way to relieve stress. Color My World meets at 1 p.m. every Wednesday.

Encore Books

The Friends of the Library’s used book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. Everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children’s books, paperbacks, biographie­s, health and wellness topics and more. All proceeds of this ongoing fundraiser support the library.

Check out a Kindle

Kindle Paperwhite­s and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with a specific genre of book (sci-fi, bestseller, nonfiction, Western, inspiratio­nal, etc.) and may be checked out for three weeks.

Bella Vista Library is on Facebook. Click on the Facebook icon on the website www.bvpl.org and “Like” the page.

Legomania

Every first Saturday of the month at 10 a.m., children are invited to come and build with Legos at the library. We’ll provide the Legos; you just bring your creativity!

Silly Songs and Stories

Silly Songs and Stories story time meets at 10 a.m. every Friday. Bring a preschoole­r for stories and crafts. Be sure to come this week to listen to a good story.

Braintease­rs

Braintease­rs meets at 3 p.m. on the third Wednesday. Each month there is a new packet filled with mind-boggling, thought-provoking puzzles and games designed to keep your brain working and problem solving.

Packets are available at the front desk for anyone looking to keep their brain in shape.

Freegal Music

The library now has Freegal Music. This service, available through the library website, allows patrons to listen to and download music for free. Using a library card, patrons can access this cool, new service. Patrons can stream three hours of music each day and can download three songs a week that they can keep.

March’s displays are provided by Jo Bain. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Rebecca at 479855-1753.

Floral Arrangemen­t

March’s floral arrangemen­t was designed and provided by Mary Lou Frost of the Bella Vista Garden Club. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patron enjoyment.

Hours of Operation

Regular library hours are 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m.5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Bella Vista Public Library is located just east of Town Center off Lancashire Blvd. (Arkansas Highway 340 East, turn at the Bella Vista Baptist Church) at 11 Dickens Place.
