'Teamwork' is word for the month for PAWS Program

-

The Glenn Duffy Elementary PAWS Program incorporates character education and positive behavior into the school community. Each month, PAWS skills are chosen and discussed in classroom guidance in relation to character education. The school staff continuously watch for opportunities to compliment students for terrific character, behavior or effort.

The word for this month is “Teamwork.” This means to work together for a common purpose. Gravette’s legendary football coach, Duke Mobley, was the guest speaker for March’s character word. Mobley is an expert when it comes to encouraging teamwork and explained to students that it takes every person on a team working together to get the job done.

Mobley said, “If even one team player isn’t giving their best, or isn’t trying 100 percent, it can affect the whole team.”

He demonstrated this by having one student try to lift him out of a chair, then two, then three. His demonstration showed students that it takes a team working together to accomplish their goal.

Students were recognized for their efforts in the school’s recent Subway card fundraiser. Funds generated will be applied toward playground improvements.
