Friends of the Li­brary Mem­ber­ship Drive

The Friends of Bella Vista Li­brary are hold­ing their an­nual mem­ber­ship drive. Through­out March, a Friend will be at the front of the li­brary. Mem­ber­ships are $10 for an in­di­vid­ual and $25 for a fam­ily. All new mem­bers get a 50-per­cent-off coupon for En­core Books.

Lo­cal Au­thor Show­case

Look­ing for new au­thors to read? Want to sup­port lo­cal artists? Then stop by the Bella Vista Pub­lic Li­brary's Lo­cal Au­thor Show­case from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Satur­day, March 18. This event will be filled with lo­cal au­thors who want to share their works with you. Meet new peo­ple, find new books and con­nect with au­thors who live right here in north­west Ar­kan­sas.

Bella Vista Trav­el­ing Li­brary

The Bella Vista Pub­lic Li­brary has a home-bound de­liv­ery ser­vice. The li­brary will pro­vide ma­te­ri­als to any res­i­dent of Bella Vista who is con­fined to their home or con­va­les­cent cen­ter due to ill­ness, in­jury or dis­abil­ity. Any­one in­ter­ested in this ser­vice can call the li­brary at 479-855-1753 or email pro­gram co­or­di­na­tor Argie Wil­lis at awillis@ bellav­ista ar.gov.

Po­etry Class

This class is de­signed to show­case the power of po­etry and teach young minds how to con­coct their own po­etic verses. The class is Tues­day morn­ings at 10 a.m. Ages 8-13. Reg­is­ter for this event at the front desk or at bvpl.org.

Young Read­ers

This chil­dren's book club is per­fect for read­ers in grades 3-5. They meet at 4 p.m. on the sec­ond and fourth Mon­day of the month and are al­ways ex­cited to welcome new mem­bers.

New For­eign Pol­icy Group

Mem­bers are sought for a monthly for­eign pol­icy dis­cus­sion group that will meet at the li­brary. The group will choose top­ics from “The Great De­ci­sions” pub­li­ca­tion avail­able at fpa.org. For more in­for­ma­tion, call Bob and Nancy Brown, 479-855-3729, or Mike Sten­son, 479-855-0299.

Knit­ters and Cro­cheters

Knit­ter and cro­cheter wannabes are in­vited to brush up on their skills and learn some new tech­niques from 1 to 3 p.m. ev­ery Tues­day. Novices will be guided by ex­pe­ri­enced knit­ters and cro­cheters. Par­tic­i­pants may bring their cur­rent projects or start a new one. At­ten­dees must bring their own sup­plies.

Rocket Lan­guages

Rocket Lan­guages are now of­fered through the web­site. This lan­guage-learn­ing ser­vice of­fers on­line cour­ses for 15 lan­guages. All that is needed is a li­brary card to ac­cess it.

Mys­tery Book Club

This book club is per­fect for all mys­tery lovers. They meet at 4 p.m. on the third Wed­nes­day of the month.

Color My World

This cre­ative and re­lax­ing event is a way to un­wind. Adult col­or­ing is a great way to re­lieve stress. Color My World meets at 1 p.m. ev­ery Wed­nes­day.

Brain­teasers

Brain­teasers meets at 3 p.m. on the third Wed­nes­day. Each month there is a new packet filled with mind-bog­gling, thought-pro­vok­ing puz­zles and games de­signed to keep your brain work­ing and prob­lem solving.

Pack­ets are avail­able at the front desk for any­one look­ing to keep their brain in shape.

En­core Books

The Friends of the Li­brary's used book store is open six days a week dur­ing reg­u­lar li­brary hours. Ev­ery­day low pric­ing on hard­backs, DVDs, puz­zles, chil­dren's books, pa­per­backs, bi­ogra­phies, health and well­ness top­ics and more. All pro­ceeds of this on­go­ing fundraiser sup­port the li­brary.

Check out a Kin­dle

Kin­dle Paper­whites and Kin­dle Fires are avail­able for check­out to pa­trons in good stand­ing. Each de­vice is loaded with a spe­cific genre of book (sci-fi, best­seller, non­fic­tion, Western, in­spi­ra­tional, etc.) and may be checked out for three weeks.

Face­book

Bella Vista Li­brary is on Face­book. Click on the Face­book icon on the web­site bvpl.org and “Like” the page.

Le­go­ma­nia

Ev­ery first Satur­day of the month at 10 a.m., chil­dren are in­vited to come and build with Le­gos at the li­brary. We'll pro­vide the Le­gos; you just bring your cre­ativ­ity!

Silly Songs and Sto­ries

Silly Songs and Sto­ries story time meets at 10 a.m. ev­ery Fri­day. Bring a preschooler for sto­ries and crafts. Be sure to come this week to lis­ten to a good story.

Free­gal Mu­sic

The li­brary now has Free­gal Mu­sic. This ser­vice, avail­able through the li­brary web­site, al­lows pa­trons to lis­ten to and down­load mu­sic for free. Us­ing a li­brary card, pa­trons can ac­cess this cool, new ser­vice. Pa­trons can stream three hours of mu­sic each day and can down­load three songs a week that they can keep.

Flo­ral Ar­range­ment

March's flo­ral ar­range­ment was de­signed and pro­vided by Mary Lou Frost of the Bella Vista Gar­den Club. Each month, a mem­ber of the Bella Vista Gar­den Club cre­ates an orig­i­nal flo­ral de­sign to be dis­played for pa­tron en­joy­ment.

Hours of Op­er­a­tion

Reg­u­lar li­brary hours are 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Mon­day-Thurs­day, and 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Fri­day and Satur­day. The Bella Vista Pub­lic Li­brary is lo­cated just east of Town Cen­ter off Lan­cashire Boule­vard, (Ar­kan­sas 340 east of Town Cen­ter, turn at the Bella Vista Bap­tist Church) at 11 Dick­ens Place.
