Unity Church of the Ozarks

“Ho’oponopono: A Prayer for Healing” will be presented by the Rev. Elise Cowan, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 28. June 7 begins a 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. adult class “How to Pray,” designed with a five-step prayer method to teach the difference between traditiona­l prayer and Unity’s affirmativ­e prayer.

The church has a committed group of people who serve by holding in prayer those who request prayer support. If you have a prayer need that arises for you or another, leave a message at minister@ unityozark­s.org and the prayer team will be notified.

Monthly potluck takes place after the service. Bring a dish and share the fellowship of a welcoming community.

St. Bernard Catholic Church

On Friday May 26, at 9 a.m., Our Lady of Refuge prayer group will be held in the chapel and Mah Jongg will take place in the Parish Hall.

On Tuesday, May 30, crafts will be held in the Parish Hall at 8 a.m.

A night with the NWA Naturals is planned for Saturday, June 10, at Arvest Ball Park. The premium seats are behind the third-base dugout. Tailgating will be in the grassier southwest sections of the parking lot for those who wish to socialize before the game starting at 4 p.m. The tickets are $9 each and checks must be made out to Russ Anzalone no later than Sunday, June 4.

Men of St. Bernard parish and guest of men are invited to attend a three-day silent retreat at the White House Retreat Center located outside of St. Louis. The retreat is a silent retreat conducted by a retreat director using the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit order. Registrati­ons are now being accepted for Search #142, a retreat to help Juniors and Seniors in high school get to know themselves better, deepen their friendship with Christ, and find support in living out their faith. Search #142 will be held at the 4-H Center in Little Rock , June 23-25. The fee is $130 and the early registrati­on deadline is June 1.

Daily morning Mass is celebrated on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

There is an evening Mass on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Mass is celebrated on Saturdays ( Sunday vigil) at 5 p.m. and on Sundays at 9 a.m.

United Lutheran Church

Readings this Sunday include Acts 17:22-31 and John 14:15-21.

On Sunday May 28 (Memorial Day weekend) the Choir will pay tribute to those who served in the military. The orchestra has been invited once again to play for the Memorial Day service at the Bella Vista Cemetery on Monday, May 29.

The orchestra will begin playing at 9:30 a.m. before the service begins at 10.m.

On June 3 United Singles will meet at Papa Mike’s for breakfast at 10 a.m. On June 6 United Singles will be going to the Naturals baseball game. Meet at the church at 6: p.m. to carpool there. Tickets are $5.50.

From July 17-21 the church is calling all volunteers — teachers, leaders, tech gurus, artists, helpers, students, followers of Jesus — to join the church during VBS and sign up to volunteer to help during that week.

New Wine Ministry

New Wine Ministry meets every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastor Vincent Xavier ministers the word, with Ken and Peggy Wagner leading the worship. There will be coffee fellowship before and after each service.

Pastor Patricia Xavier leads a study on spiritual warfare and deliveranc­e held at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the same location. The study is based on her book “Deliveranc­e – The Christian’s Bill of Rights.”

Women of Substance meets at 2:30 the first Saturday of every month. A buffet luncheon is served which is followed by one of the women of the church giving her testimony.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

A mission at the church known as Stamped With A Prayer makes hand-made cards the first Wednesday of each month. This month their mission just gave $1,000 to the Bella Vista Fire Department for meals for the firefighte­rs. The cards are $2.50 each and 100 percent of the purchase goes to the mission. They also remake pre-owned hand-made cards to give to nursing homes and other groups. Five times a year they go to Brookfield Assisted Living and make pre-designed cards with the residents.

On April 30 there was a Stephen Minister commission­ing at the church. Dave Jensen and Ilene Severns as new ministers and Patrice Eggert was reaffirmed as a minister and Jack Grober as a new Stephen Leader. The Men’s Disciplesh­ip Class will not meet until June 12.

The Shepherd’s Food pantry is open each Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Organizers are asking for donations of bar soap, flour, oil, sugar or the funds to purchase these items. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

Senior Adult Game Day is on May 23, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Quilters will meet on May 24, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Those unable to attend a Sunday morning worship service, Bella Vista Lutheran Church at 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., has a Saturday night service at 5:37 p.m. This is a relaxed, casual worship experience with contempora­ry music.

Goff joins Village Bible Church

Andrew Goff has come to Village Bible Church in Bella Vista to serve as director of Worship and Disciplesh­ip. He and wife, Kristen and their daughter Haddie have moved here from northern Indiana where Andrew was in bi-vocational ministry working with worship and youth.

A graduate of John Brown University, Andrew was born and raised in northwest Arkansas. His parents and other family members live in the area. He was recommende­d to Village Bible Church by the pastor at Siloam Springs Bible Church.

Andrew is a talented musician and a passionate Christ follower who will provide leadership for the church’s worship ministries as well as work closely with the Lead Pastor, Mark Voll and the Christian Education Committee to coordinate the disciple-making efforts of the small group ministry, Bible studies and Sunday morning classes.

Unitarian Universali­sts

The Unitarian Universali­sts of Benton County meet at 1110 SE Evergreen St. (Little Einstein Montessori School) in Bentonvill­e near the southeast corner of 14th and J

streets. The Sunday service, which begins at 11 a.m., is preceded by coffee and social time beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday school is available for children with a Unitarian Universali­st adaptation of Jerome Berryman’s book, “Spirit Play” as the primary resource. Sunday school is based on the Montessori approach. As in Montessori, the key elements are the classroom environmen­t and the teachers. These elements free the children to work at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Highland Christian Church (The Happening Place) meets for worship with communion at 10:30 each Sunday.

All seniors are invited to Neosho National Fish Hatchery Senior Citizen Day June 9. Fishing begins at 9 a.m. and end at noon. Anglers will be allowed to catch and keep four trout. Volunteers will clean and bag the fish and put them on ice, all compliment­ary. All fishing equipment will be provided by the Fish Hatchery, no personal fishing equipment will be allowed in the hatchery. After the fishing is over, lunch will be provided by the hatchery. Village Bible Church

Wednesday May 24, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragem­ent of friendly volunteers. A potluck fellowship dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the community is always welcome. At 6:30 p.m. there will be singing, devotions and prayer in the Worship Center. Nursery for infants and toddlers is available.

Sunday May 28, Sunday School classes are offered for all ages at 9 a.m.,. followed by the 10:15 a.m. worship service. This Sunday’s sermon title is “Commission­ed in Christ,” with a text of selected passages from 1st and 2nd Timothy. The service will be a commission­ing service for Andrew Goff, the new

director of Worship and Disciplesh­ip. The Rev. Al Frank from the EFCA Central District staff, along with Pastor Mark Voll, will present a commission­ing charge to Andrew and to the church. Infant and toddler nursery and Children’s Church for kids will be offered as well, and the community is always warmly welcomed.

Tuesday May 30, at 7 p.m., a men’s Bible study will meet in the Fellowship Hall and men from the community are always welcome.

A ladies’ KniTTogeth­er ministry and the White Cross Women’s Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m. The ladies enjoy informal fellowship while working on projects that benefit needy children and adults in our area as well as a hospital in Congo. These are open to any ladies who would like to come and learn more about these ministries.

Community Church

First United Methodist Church

The Bella Vista Women’s Chorus meets each Monday from 12:45 to 3 p.m. in the church Music Room. This group performs a variety of music in concerts throughout the year and is open to any woman in the community who enjoys singing.

The Bella Vista Men’s Chorus meets each Monday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in the Music Room. This group is open to any man in the community who enjoys singing. The Men’s Chorus performs a variety of music concerts throughout the year.

Friends Plus Healthy Living meets at 9 a.m. Wednesdays at Lake Bella Vista in the parking lot along U.S. Highway 71 to walk for about an hour. Different groups walk at different paces while sharing in fellowship and encouragem­ent. About 10:30 a.m. meet in the Chapel to share tips on making healthier lifestyle choices, and encourage and uplift one another.

Bella Vista Baptist Church

St. Theodore Episcopal Church

Join the congregati­on for worship and celebratio­n of the Holy Eucharist on Sunday morning. St. Theodore has two services: Holy Eucharist Rite I at 8 a.m. and Holy Eucharist Rite II at 10:30 a.m. Coffee fellowship takes place after the 10:30 service.
