Walter “Walt” Gaspord, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark., on his and wife, Jo’s, 64th wedding anniversar­y. He was born in Chicago on July 24, 1935, t0 John and Stella Beretta Gaspord.

He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was stationed at Fort Monmouth, N.J., and the Philippine­s. He was an electricia­n by trade and taught electrical courses at Vocational School in St. Paul, Minn. He had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, photograph­y, oil painting, ham radio and gardening. He was a member and past president of Bella Vista Fly-Tyers, an active member of the Bella Vista Ham Radio Club and the Veterans Honor Guard. He was a member of the Highland Christian Church in Bella Vista and served in several ministries.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Raymond Gaspord.

He is survived by his wife, Jo; three children, Stefani Lekkas of Anoka, Minn., Shari Garcia of Stockton, Minn., and Dennis (Dot) Gaspord of Harris, Minn.; nine grandchild­ren; two brothers-in-law, Leonard (Nina) Cinelli, and Emil Cinelli; a sister-in-law, Carmella Bruce; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Highland Christian Church in Bella Vista with military honors by the Bella Vista Honor Guard. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Circle of Life Hospice, 1201 N.E. Legacy Parkway, Bentonvill­e, AR 72712 or Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.
