Elementary Storytime
We now have a story time for children grades K-5 every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. These stories and crafts will be geared for older ages. Please join us for a fun-filled evening.
Chapter Chicks
This book club is for girls in grades 3-5. Join us on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 4 p.m. to meet other girls who love to read and talk about great books. Participants need to read the selected chapters before the club meets.
Teen Night
Join us from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, as we enjoy an Amazing Race themed Teen Night. Ages 11 and up.
Local Author Showcase
The Bella Vista Public Library will be hosting another Local Author Showcase from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the talented authors in our region.
Gathering of the Bookies
The library is hosting its 12th annual gathering of all area readers and book clubs on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Cookies and punch will be served at 12:30 p.m., followed by a gathering where everyone will share what books they have read and enjoyed (or hated) in the past year or so. All book clubs and solo readers are invited to come together to discuss and gossip about their common love of books. If you are part of a book club, bring along a list of what your club has read in the past year. Copies of book lists from various clubs will be available to take home with you.
Friends of the Library Sock-hop
Time to hop, bop and do the twist at the 5th annual benefit Sock Hop at Riordan Hall, sponsored by The Friends of the Bella Vista Public Library to be held on Friday, Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Rockin’ Roads Band will again provide live music for dancing. Tickets are available at the library for $10. Tickets will also be on sale at the door. Included in the ticket price is entry to the dance, popcorn, and a root beer float. All proceeds will go directly to the expansion fund for our library.
Calling all Artists
We are currently accepting vendor applications for our 2017 Dickens Christmas. Creators of arts and crafts, as well as tasty food, are invited to apply to be in our first big Christmas event. For more information come by the library or visit the website at www.bvpl.org.
Freegal Music
The library has Freegal Music. This service, available through our website, allows our patrons to listen to and download music for free. Patrons can use their library card to access this service.
Rocket Languages
We offer Rocket Languages through our website. This language learning service offers online courses for 15 different languages. All you need is a library card to access it.
Check Out a Kindle
Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with several books and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See library staff for the check-out agreement and procedure.

Encore Books
The Friends of the Library’s used-book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. Everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs,
puzzles, children’s books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics, and much, much more. All proceeds of this ongoing fundraiser support the library. New books are added almost daily.

Exhibits
September’s displays of butter pats and salt cellars are provided by Joan Schroeder. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Rebecca at 479855-1753.
Floral Arrangement
September’s floral arrangement was designed and provided by Linda Neymeyer of the Bella Vista Garden Club. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patron enjoyment.
Hours of Operation
Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with weekend hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The Bella Vista Public Library is located just east of Town Center off Lancashire Boulevard (Arkansas Highway 340 East, turn at the Bella Vista Baptist Church) at 11 Dickens Place.
