United Methodist Church

“When Mourning Dawns: A Journey Through Grief,” is a nine-week journey through the experience­s of grief from the withering of autumn to the hopeful new growth of summer. The group meets on Tuesdays and continues through Oct. 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Chapel. A donation of $10 for the participan­t book is welcomed.

Midweek Manna has begun for the fall. The group meets in fellowship with a meal starting at 5:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. Suggested donation is $5 per adult, $3 for children under 10, and family maximum is $15. Small group study, small craft and activity groups meet from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Classes include a Women’s Bible Study, Technology for Senior, Elder-Care, The Shack, Invitation to the Old Testament, Color Your Way to Calm, and Bazaar crafts. New classes will be added soon. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers. Pre-K through sixth grade will learn Bible basics through Bible stories, memorizati­on of scripture and song. If needed, time for homework is provided. Youth Life, grades seven through twelve, will meet in the Youth Room.

Prayer shawl ministry has resumed meeting on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 6. Come for an hour of visiting and stitching. To learn how to knit, members will be happy to instruct you. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving, and other circumstan­ces. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being lovingly made.

Friends plus healthy living meets Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the chapel to walk for a while and then come back to share tips on making healthier lifestyle choices, and encourage and uplift one another. A healthy snack is usually shared.

Men’s Emmaus meets each Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Room 22. This group is open to any fellow who has gone through the Emmaus process.

Bazaar craft workshops meet on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue meeting every Thursday until the Oct. 7 bazaar. Bring a sack lunch along if you can stay past the noon hour and/or a snack to share. This will be a great time for meeting new friends and sharing your crafty talents.

The Chancel Choir and Chancel Handball Choir both have resumed rehearsals after a summer hiatus. The Chancel Bells meet in the Music Room weekly at 3:30 p.m. and the Chancel Choir will meet in the sanctuary at 5 p.m. For more informatio­n, contact Dr. Larry Zehring, Director of Music Ministries at 479855-1158.

St. Bernard Catholic Church

Daily morning Mass is celebrated on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

Evening Mass is celebrated on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Mass is celebrated on Saturdays (Sunday vigil) at 5 p.m. and on Sundays at 9 a.m.

The Men’s Club is in need of volunteers to prepare the breakfast before the monthly meetings. Please consider volunteeri­ng so the club can continue the breakfast tradition that brings so much fellowship to the monthly meetings. The first meeting is Saturday, Sept. 9. Village Bible Church

Wednesday, Sept. 13, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in our area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragem­ent of our friendly volunteers. The 5:30 p.m. dinner will be a grilling meal with a “Team Spirit Tailgating” theme, so wear your favorite team’s colors if you like. Please bring a side dish to share. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of meat and buns, and the community is always welcome. At 6:30 p.m. there will be singing, devotions and prayer in the Worship Center. Nursery for infants and toddlers is available.

Sunday, Sept. 17, Sunday School classes are offered for all ages at 9 a.m. followed by the 10:15 a.m. worship service. Pastor Mark Voll will continue his sermon series titled, “The Making of a D.I.S.C.I.P.L.E.” This week’s sermon title is, “A Disciple of Jesus Christ is … Dead & Alive,” with a text of Galatians 3:23-29. Infant and toddler nursery and Children’s Church for kids is offered and the community is always warmly welcomed.

A ladies’ KniTTogeth­er ministry and the White Cross Women’s Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m. The ladies enjoy informal fellowship while working on projects that benefit needy children, adults in our area, as well as a hospital in the Congo. Any ladies from the community are welcome to come and learn more

about these ministries.

Unity Church of the Ozarks

“World Day of Prayer Week” continues Sept. 10-16. Larry Owensby performs a World Day of Prayer Gong Meditation on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.

“Living in Faith” will be presented by the Rev. Elise Cowan. Unity Church of the Ozarks has relocated to a new address. Travel to exit 93 on I-49, then take the round-about onto Arkansas Highway 549. “Finding Yourself in Transition” by Robert Brummet will be the study material for the new Sunday morning class from 9 to 10 a.m. This book explores the spiritual opportunit­ies inherent in life’s changes that provide methods for greater personal and spiritual growth.

“The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself” by Michael Singer studying begins with the Wednesday night class on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. A 20-minute meditation follows the hour-long class.

Presbyteri­an Church

The community is invited to a traditiona­l worship service on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. Christian Education classes for all ages meet at 8:30 a.m. The Contempora­ry Issues Class will continue a new six-week study on “Christiani­ty and World Religions” by Adam Hamilton. A nursery attendant is available. We always welcome new friends.

Martha Garvin Circle of Presbyteri­an Women is again collecting gently used sweaters and sweatshirt­s (all sizes for men, women and children) to be given to the Salvation Army for distributi­on. The collection box will be in the connector hallway through Nov. 13.

Highland Christian (Disciples of Christ)

Highland Christian Church meets for worship with communion at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday School classes start at 9 a.m. offering four adult studies and “Creative Worship” for youth.

Community Church

Worship is at 9:30 a.m. Sunday mornings with coffee fellowship before and after the service. Pastor Jeff Reed will be preaching Sunday, Sept. 17. During the worship service, a staffed nursery is available as well as children’s worship for ages 4-12.

Men’s Bible Study started a new study on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Pastor Jeff Reed facilitate­s this new sixweek DVD series by R. C. Sproul titled “Chosen by God.” The meetings are on Tuesdays, 6:30-8 p.m. downstairs in room 8/9.

Women’s Bible Study starts Thursday, Sept. 21. This is a sixweek series on the book “Fight Back With Joy” by Margaret Feinberg. The cost of the book is $15. The meetings are on Thursday with the morning session at 9:30 a.m. and the evening session at 6 p.m. Both meet downstairs in room 8/9.

Caregivers (All) Support Group meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the parlor.

Parish nurses are available to answer questions and check blood pressure each Wednesday in the nurses’ office from 9 a.m. to noon.

Prayer Fellowship meets every Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the conference room.

New Life Christian Church

A Saturday evening worship service will begin at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at New Life Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road. This will be identical to the Sunday morning worship services with full New Life Kids’ Programmin­g for children birth through sixth grade.

Unitarian Universali­sts

Sunday, Sept. 17, features a homily titled, “Resilience as a Spiritual Strength,” written by Jacob ten Hove, retired minister emeritus for Cedars Unitarian Universali­st Church, Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap County in Washington state.

Sunday School is available for children with a Unitarian Universali­st adaptation of Jerome Berryman’s book, “Spirit Play” as the primary resource. We structure the morning based on the Montessori approach. As in Montessori, the key elements are the classroom environmen­t and the teachers. These elements free the children to work at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

New Wine Ministry

Welcome to New Wine Ministry, the Church of the Living God, meeting every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastor Vincent Xavier ministers the Word, teaching and preaching on scripture and Revelation, current events, and prophecy.

A new radio program has been launched on Omega Radio Network. Vincent and Paul will go live on the program at 9 a.m and 2 p.m. Check listing for various times of The Watchman. It is also a program for anointed men and women of God to speak the uncompromi­sed Word of God.

The Feast of Tabernacle­s 2017 will be celebrated Oct. 5-15. The Feasts of the Lord are special appointed times when the Creator of the Universe has asked that we meet with Him as He has chosen a planned time to meet with us. The feasts are for every believer and are to be kept forever.
