Irwin wrong about Trump

-

I agree with “Doc” Irwin that President Trump’s United Nations speech irritated some world leaders.

Unlike Doc, I am glad that he got under their skin and I am certainly not ashamed of our president. I have never thought Trump was a smooth talker, as many politicians are, but he speaks a lot of truth about the Washington swamp and world leaders.

The UN has been siding against us for years and often seems to be out of touch with reality. Two-bit dictators are given standing equal to democratic leaders, supporters of terrorism who create upheavals around the globe sit on the Security Council, and some of the world’s worst human rights abusers are members of the council to protect human rights. President Trump’s recent speech about the organization was a breath of fresh air instead of the usual political cowardice. Our president knocked it out of the park.

We have seen throughout history the statesmen and the politicians who tiptoed around the crimes of evil governments in the

hope that they could calm the beasts. World governments ignored and tried to placate Hitler until he showed up at their doorsteps. We held diplomatic talks with the Japanese as they dropped bombs on Pearl Harbor. We held our nose and turned our heads as Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung slaughtered millions.

Recently, we have watched Islamic terrorists murder and torture across the Mideast, and rather than stopping them with a worldwide force, many

nations open their borders and let in both victims and enemies. Today some believe that we should ignore the growth of evil regimes in Korea and Iran so as not to provoke them. President Trump has instead stood up to the bullies and told them to stop their aggression or take a beating. People around the world have been waiting a long time to hear such tough, straight talk from an American leader.

I don’t have a PhD like Doc and this letter may be ignored as others have been – but that’s OK. Many people are tired of the PhDs who think that they rise above common sense and the common man and, although he is a wealthy man, President Trump speaks the language that many Americans support and agree with.
