Forest Hills Church

Forest Hills Church welcomes people of all faiths to worship. St. Bernard Catholic Church

There will be a card party hosted by the Women’s Club on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

The Knights of Columbus will have a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m.in the Parish Hall.

Octoberfes­t Dinner is Saturday, Oct. 14, sponsored by the Men’s Club. It will be held in the Parish Hall starting at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.

Crafts are held every Tuesday mornings in the Parish Hall at 8 a.m. Come and join the fun.

Caring Friends will sponsor a Game and Pizza Day on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 5 p.m., in the Church Hall. This is for all widows, widowers, and singles of our parish. Bring a favorite table game; organizers will have cards ready. There is a $5 charge to cover the cost of the pizza and drinks.

The Rosary is said before Saturday night Mass at 4:25 p.m. and before Sunday morning Mass at 8:25 a.m. Make a point of coming early and joining in this beautiful devotional.

Daily morning Mass is celebrated on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

There is an evening Mass celebrated on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista

United Methodist Men will hold their semi-annual Pancake Breakfast on Friday, Oct. 20, from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children under 5 are free. All are welcome.

Join When Mourning Dawns, A Journey Through Grief, for a journey through the experience­s of grief — from the withering of autumn to the hopeful new growth of summer. The group journey meets on Tuesdays and continues through Oct. 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel.

Midweek Manna meets Wednesdays in fellowship with a meal starting at 5:30 until 6:15 p.m. Suggested donation is $5 per adult, $3 for children under 10, and family maximum is $15. All are welcome to join for supper, whether taking a class or not. Small group study and small craft and activity groups meet from 6:30 until 7:30-7:45 p.m. Classes include a Women’s Bible Study, Technology for Senior, Elder-Care, The Shack, Invitation to the Old Testament, Disaster Preparedne­ss, Coloring Your Way to Calm, Card-Making, and Mosaic Crosses. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers. Pre-K through 6th grade will learn Bible basics through Bible stories, memorizati­on of scripture, and song. If needed, time for homework is provided. Youth Life, grades 7-12, meets in the Youth Room.

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on Tuesdays, from 10 to 11 a.m., in Room 6. Come for an hour of visiting and stitching. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving, and other circumstan­ces. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being lovingly made.

Friends Plus Healthy Living meets Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. to walk for a while and then meet in the Chapel to share tips on making healthier life-style choices, and to encourage and uplift one another. A “healthy” snack is usually shared.

THE Chancel Choir and Chancel Handbell Choir would like to have more folks join them. The Chancel Bells meet in the Music Room weekly at 3:30 p.m. and the Chancel Choir will meet in the Sanctuary at 5 p.m. To join either of these groups or for more informatio­n, contact Dr. Larry Zehring, director of Music Ministries, at 479-855-1158.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

On Oct. 10, the Benton County SALT Council will again sponsor a Senior Safety Academy at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd. Speakers include Bella Vista Police Chief James Graves, Cornerston­e Pharmacy pharmacist Jim Graham, an elder-care attorney, representa­tives from the Attorney General’s Office, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and others. Vendors will have giveaways and info on senior housing, senior care and many other areas. Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. and a warm noon lunch is served for free. A new Family Video Game Night begins at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18, starting with supper. This will give children and families a chance to do church friendly video games in a supervised environmen­t.

The Shepherd’s Food pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Organizers are now collecting items to be given for Thanksgivi­ng. A container for donations is in the church narthex. Monetary donations are welcome.

Village Bible Church

Wednesday, Oct. 11, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragem­ent of friendly volunteers. The 5:30 p.m. dinner will be a grilling meal with all the trimmings, plus potluck side dishes. Donations will be accepted. At 6:30 p.m. there will be singing, devotions and prayer in the Worship Center. Nursery for infants and toddlers is available.

Any ladies from the community are welcome to come and learn more about these ministries.

Unitarian Universali­sts

The Unitarian Universali­sts of Benton County has moved to 1400 W. Walnut, No. 113, in The Quarter Shopping Center, located in Rogers. The Sunday service, which begins at 11 a.m., is preceded by coffee and social time beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The service on Oct. 15 features a talk on the topic of “Vulnerabil­ity.”

Sunday School is available for children with a Unitarian Universali­st adaptation of Jerome Berryman’s book, “Spirit Play,” as the primary resource. We structure the morning based on the Montessori approach. As in Montessori, the key elements are the classroom environmen­t and the teachers. These elements free the children to work at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

Presbyteri­an Church

Members of the church will gather for a sing-a-long with the residents of Highland Healthcare and Rehabilita­tion, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13.

The community is invited to worship with us for a traditiona­l worship service , at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15. Christian Education classes for all ages meet at 8:30 a.m. A nursery attendant is available. We always welcome new friends.

Martha Garvin Circle of Presbyteri­an Women is again collecting gently used sweaters and sweatshirt­s (all sizes for men, women and

children) that will be given to the Salvation Army for distributi­on. The collection box will be in the Connector Hallway through Nov. 12.

“Clean Up Buckets” for storm victims in Texas and Florida are being filled with supplies needed to help with recovery efforts. Members of the church can pick up a supply list in the Connector Hallway and see samples of the supplies that are needed. This is a continuing project of the Missions Committee.

New Wine Ministry

The Feast of Tabernacle­s will be celebrated during the week of Oct. 5-15, and held at the NWA Ministry Center, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd. Bella Vista. These meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a time of worship before visiting speakers give a message.

There will be high-powered speakers and motivators, along with musicians to minister to the spirit and emotion of the people. The motivation and source of inspiratio­n comes through the Scriptures, where we believe instructio­n and empowermen­t can be found during these troublesom­e days within our nation.

There will also be morning meetings at 9 a.m. during the week, for breakfast, followed by praise and worship, with scheduled speakers throughout the Feast. These morning meetings will be held at the Ark, 8030 LaCroix Road, Decatur. Lunch will also be served. Local accommodat­ions are available or bring your RV or tent. New Life Christian Church

New Life Christian Church offers four weekend services; Saturday at 5 p.m.; Sunday at 8:30, 10 and 11:30 a.m. An ASL-certified interprete­r is at the 11:30 a.m. service.

New Life Kids’ Programmin­g for children birth to sixth grade is offered at all services.

Starting Point is an eight-week gathering where questions about God turn into a conversati­on about faith. In a Starting Point group, members can discuss doubts and explore the trickiest topics of faith, free from pressure and judgment. Bella Vista Community Church

Join us for worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday mornings with coffee fellowship before and after the service. Pastor Jeff Reed will be preaching Sunday, Oct. 15. During the worship service, a staffed nursery is available as well as children’s worship for ages 4-12.

A-MAZE-ING Trunk or Treat is from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. Navigate through a maze of exciting themed trunks. There will be plenty of candy along the way and, after the maze, enjoy a hot dog while supplies last.

Commemorat­e the 500th anniversar­y of the Reformatio­n from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 21, 28 and Nov. 4 in McKay Hall.
