John ‘Jack’ Douglas Hayes

John “Jack” Douglas Hayes, 83, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born Sept. 15, 1934, in San Mateo, Calif., to James C. and Mary S. Caetano Hayes.

He grew up in San Bruno, Calif. He attended Sera Catholic High School. In high school, he joined the Gold Gloves Boxing organizati­on and competed in the light-weight divisions. He loved sports and was very competitiv­e.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1957. In 1969, he met Julia and two years later, in 1971, they married. During their life, he and Julia lived in Sunnyvale, Calif.; Plano, Texas; Bella Vista, Ark.; and Kerrville, Texas. He and his wife moved back to Bella Vista in 2014, where they resided until her death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia N. Schomaker/Pinckney Hayes.

Survivors include a brother, James (Nancy) Hayes; a sister, Mary Ann (William) Lawless; two sons, Michael Schomaker (Andrea) of Garfield, Ark., and Eric Schomaker (Sherry) of Alpine, Utah; nine grandchild­ren; and 27 great-grandchild­ren.

Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark., with no service conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Autumn Place Home in Pea Ridge, Ark.

Clifford William McAninch Jr.

Clifford William McAninch Jr., 80, of Bella Vista, Ark. died Thursday, Oct.12, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice-Legacy Village, Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Eugene, Ore., to the Rev. Clifford W. McAninch Sr. and Berniece Eden Evans McAninch.

He grew up in the Baptist church living in Oregon, Nebraska, and Colorado Springs, Colo.

He married Deborah Alice Nieder on Feb. 18, 1955, in Colorado Springs, and they had three daughters. He loved providing for and raising his girls. He gave them a love of the land and what it can provide with hard work. He spent time around race tracks and cars during his teens and the early part of his marriage and enjoyed NASCAR races every chance he got. Early in his career, he was a chauffeur and automotive painter at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs that continued his love of cars.

He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves, serving from 1954 to 1962 in Colorado Springs and Vinland, Kan. In Colorado, he and his family lived on the Columbia Ranch in Divide. He was a member of the Colorado Ranger Mounted Police in associatio­n with Colorado State Patrol and Teller County Sheriff in the Divide area. In 1960, he moved his family to Vinland, Kan., where they raised hogs and cattle. In 1973, he developed the residentia­l Coal Creek Subdivisio­n in Vinland. During his years spent in Kansas, he was on the Board of Directors for the Rural Water District No. 2.

His other love of adventure came with a Harley. He spent 26 years as a member of the Harley Owners Group. Grandkids loved taking short rides when they would come to visit. He and his wife traveled extensive miles crisscross­ing the United States and Canada on a Harley during their 62 years of marriage. They were members of the Retreads Internatio­nal motorcycle organizati­on from 1980 to 1992. Together, they were state directors from 1984 to 1990, organized rallies, poker runs, and cultivated many close friendship­s.

He enjoyed camping and outdoor activities which included establishi­ng a chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Associatio­n – The Jayhawkers, in Lawrence, Kan. This too involved traveling the country and making new friends. They spent 14 years as full-time RVers between Bentonvill­e, Ark., and Arcadia, Fla., visiting kids and grandkids during their retirement years. They settled in Bella Vista on Sept. 30, 2005. He enjoyed fishing the lakes and rivers around Bentonvill­e. He also enjoyed time spent with friends around the pool table at Branchwood Recreation Center. He was a member of the Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista. Upon moving to Bentonvill­e in 1981, he built several homes and apartments in the Bella Vista and Bentonvill­e areas.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Berniece McAninch, on Feb. 8, 1926.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; three daughters, Jonica Valerie (Kevin) Sauce of Sachse, Texas, Deborah Ann (Kendall) Hobson of Preston, Idaho, and Belinda Sue (Kerry) Tyler of Bella Vista; 10 grandchild­ren; and 14 great-grandchild­ren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the Bella Vista Funeral Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista. Interment will be at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens at a later date.

William ‘Bill’ J. Narron

William “Bill” J. Narron, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017. He was born May 14, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., to Jack and Madeline Narron.

He moved to Blue Springs, Mo., as a small child.

He worked for Adams Dairy and retired from Fleming Foods in May 1991. He moved to Bella Vista in August 1991. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church and the Sheneman Golf Group. He loved playing golf and was rewarded with two hole-in-one shots. Watching and filling his many bird feeders was first thing on his list each morning. His family was very important to him. He was a gentle, thoughtful and kind man.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Oliver Fairchild.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; three daughters, Debbie Narron of Grain Valley, Mo., Deanna Spencer and her husband, Mike of Overland Park, Kan., and Brenda Norman of Bella Vista; a son, Steve Narron of Grain Valley; five grandchild­ren; and 11 great-grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 East Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Kansas City.

Jacquelyn Grate Park

Jacquelyn Grate Park, 91, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Benton- ville, Ark.

She was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Des Moines to Harley and Caroline Grate.

She graduated from Lincoln High School, where she was editor of the yearbook. She married

Jack Park on Nov. 9, 1946. They had two daughters, Jodi and Janet. She worked part-time at Dahls Grocery while her children were growing up. She then worked for the Polk County Board of Supervisor­s. She volunteere­d for many years at a crisis line for youth in Des Moines.

In 1990, she moved with her husband to Bella Vista for retirement. They enjoyed great friendship­s, golf and bowling in their new home town. She was a talented singer and writer, and wonderful cook. She was a champion of civil rights all of her life. She had a great sense of humor and friends and neighbors on Swanage Drive and at Concordia loved her wisecracks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Park.

Survivors include two daughters, Jodi and Rick Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jan and Charlie Riedmuelle­r of Bella Vista; stepsons, Kevin and Charlie Riedmuelle­r II; two stepgrands­ons, Ryan and Sean Riedmuelle­r; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Darlene Park; a niece; and a nephew.

A gathering to celebrate her life was held in the All Purpose Room at Concordia Retirement Community in Bella Vista on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017. A private interment will be held at a later date at the National

Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark.

Perry Lee Payne Sr.

Perry Lee Payne Sr., 65, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born Feb. 28, 1952, in Pea Ridge, Ark., to Ellis Payne and Velma Hopping Payne.

He was a private contractor for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Payne of Bella Vista; two sons, Perry Payne Jr. and Thaden Payne, both of Bella Vista; two daughters, Nancy Self of Rogers, Ark., and Jessica Grant of Bentonvill­e; two brothers, James Payne of Alabama and Donnie Payne of Seligman, Mo.; two sisters, Janie Payne of Alabama, and LaVerne Payne of Rogers; 10 grandchild­ren; and two great-grandchild­ren.

Services will be announced at a later date.
