Larry L. Beasley, 81, died Mon­day, Oct. 9, 2017, at his home in Bella Vista, Ark., fol­low­ing a long ill­ness. He was born March, 18, 1936, in Leon, Iowa, to Hu­bert and Ruth Cook Beasley.

He grew up in Iowa, where he at­tended Leon High School.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954, serv­ing for eight years, re­ceiv­ing Good Con­duct Medals and the Na­tional De­fense Ser­vice Medal. He also re­ceived the Air Force Com­men­da­tion Medal as he dis­tin­guished him­self by mer­i­to­ri­ous ser­vice as a Non-Com­mis­sioned Of­fi­cer in Charge, Spe­cial In­ter­pre­ta­tion Sec­tion, Photo In­tel­li­gence Branch, 544th Re­con­nais­sance Tech­ni­cal Group, Of­futt Air Force Base, Neb. He was dis­charged in 1962, achiev­ing the rank of staff sergeant.

He mar­ried Mary Ellen Fed­der­sen in Daven­port, Iowa, in 1968.

He be­gan an ap­pren­tice­ship pro­gram with then UA Lo­cal 387 and grad­u­ated in 1971. His op­por­tu­ni­ties in his work al­lowed for mul­ti­state travel and ex­pe­ri­ences. His var­ied roles in­cluded project man­age­ment/en­gi­neer­ing. He had a pas­sion for that role and en­joyed his years with U.S. En­gi­neer­ing in Kansas City, Mo. He re­tired in 2004 and con­tin­ued to work as a con­sul­tant, uti­liz­ing his knowl­edge to lead and as­sist with var­i­ous projects. He re­tired in 2005 and moved his fam­ily to sev­eral states in­clud­ing Florida and Ne­vada.

He was a mem­ber of Amer­i­can Le­gion, Post 341 and “the Naughty Nine­teen White River Fish­ing Group.” He en­joyed fish­ing, boat­ing and his many friends and fam­ily. While in the Air Force, he showed great skill and en­joy­ment work­ing on his ’57 Chevy and the oc­ca­sional drag race.

He was pre­ceded in death by his sis­ter, Mary An­drew.

Sur­vivors in­clude his mother, Ruth Beasley of Leon; wife, Mary Ellen Beasley of Bella Vista; two sons, Chris­tian Beasley of Frisco, Texas, and Scott (Patti) Beasley of Lin­coln, Neb.; two daugh­ters, Lynn (Chris) Paschen of Cas­tle Rock, Colo., and Annette (Joe) Den­nis­ton of Colorado; four brothers, Gary Beasley of Oskaloosa, Kan., Terry Beasley of Grand­view, Mo., Michael (Ge­or­gia) Beasley of Des Moines, Iowa, and Ken­neth (Deb­bie) Beasley of Colorado Springs, Colo; two brothers-in-law, Bob An­drew of Leon, and Mike (Re­becca) Fed­der­sen of Daven­port, Iowa; 12 grand­chil­dren; a great-grand­child, Jack­son Driscoll of Colorado; many nieces and neph­ews and other rel­a­tives.

A memo­rial ser­vice will be held at 10:30 a.m. Satur­day, Nov. 18, 2017, at Trin­ity Chris­tian Church in De­catur, Iowa. Cre­ma­tion rites have been ac­corded.

In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily re­quests memo­ri­als be made to Best Friends An­i­mal Sanc­tu­ary of Kanab, Utah, Hu­mane So­ci­ety of Amer­ica; ASPCA; or the Bella Vista An­i­mal Shel­ter.
