Larry L. Beasley
Larry L. Beasley, 81, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at his home in Bella Vista, Ark., following a long illness. He was born March, 18, 1936, in Leon, Iowa, to Hubert and Ruth Cook Beasley.
He grew up in Iowa, where he attended Leon High School.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954, serving for eight years, receiving Good Conduct Medals and the National Defense Service Medal. He also received the Air Force Commendation Medal as he distinguished himself by meritorious service as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, Special Interpretation Section, Photo Intelligence Branch, 544th Reconnaissance Technical Group, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. He was discharged in 1962, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.
He married Mary Ellen Feddersen in Davenport, Iowa, in 1968.
He began an apprenticeship program with then UA Local 387 and graduated in 1971. His opportunities in his work allowed for multistate travel and experiences. His varied roles included project management/engineering. He had a passion for that role and enjoyed his years with U.S. Engineering in Kansas City, Mo. He retired in 2004 and continued to work as a consultant, utilizing his knowledge to lead and assist with various projects. He retired in 2005 and moved his family to several states including Florida and Nevada.
He was a member of American Legion, Post 341 and “the Naughty Nineteen White River Fishing Group.” He enjoyed fishing, boating and his many friends and family. While in the Air Force, he showed great skill and enjoyment working on his ’57 Chevy and the occasional drag race.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Andrew.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Beasley of Leon; wife, Mary Ellen Beasley of Bella Vista; two sons, Christian Beasley of Frisco, Texas, and Scott (Patti) Beasley of Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters, Lynn (Chris) Paschen of Castle Rock, Colo., and Annette (Joe) Denniston of Colorado; four brothers, Gary Beasley of Oskaloosa, Kan., Terry Beasley of Grandview, Mo., Michael (Georgia) Beasley of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kenneth (Debbie) Beasley of Colorado Springs, Colo; two brothers-in-law, Bob Andrew of Leon, and Mike (Rebecca) Feddersen of Davenport, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild, Jackson Driscoll of Colorado; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Trinity Christian Church in Decatur, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary of Kanab, Utah, Humane Society of America; ASPCA; or the Bella Vista Animal Shelter.
