Sock Hop success for the library

-

The Bella Vista Friends of the Library would like to thank the people of Bella Vista for the support gave during our recent Sock Hop at Riordan Hall. We are continuing to raise money for our very much needed library expansion, and all the profits from the Sock Hop will go to that cause.

We would especially like to thank Steve at Allen’s Food Market for the donation of all the soda pop and ice cream, as well as Arvest Bank for the donation of the popcorn. A special thanks to Riordan Hall for the use of the dance hall and table cloths. Kathy was very helpful and was fun to work with on organizing the event. Because of these groups, most of the tickets sales went toward the expansion. A special thanks to Rockin Roads Band and their fans who always make the Sock Hop a fun night.

This year Julie Hull volunteered to take pictures for us. Not only did she do a great job at that, she put together a YouTube video of the dance, so go check that out. Thanks to the Teen Advisory Board who worked the ice cream stand and were runners when we needed more pop or ice cream from the freezer. Last, but certainly not least, were the antique cars. What fun to see old beautifully restored cars owned by Jim and Nancy Jones, as well as Howard and Sherry Farwell, in front of Riordan Hall.

As you can see, we had lots of community support for our Sock Hop. I urge you to also support the expansion to our library. The Friends have given $155,000 towards it and are working on giving more. Come by and see how crowded our library is and how much an expansion is needed. What can you do to help your community library grow as our community grows?
