POA has good year

So far in 2017, the Bella Vista Property Owners Association is $1.3 million ahead of its budget, general manager Tom Judson told the board of directors at the regular meeting on Oct. 27. It’s been a good year.

The Golf Pro Shops have not done well, Judson said, probably because of two course closures. Berksdale was completely closed by the April flood but nine holes reopened in June. The Highlands was closed for several months over the summer while work was done on cart paths and the collars around the greens.

Events at Lakepoint, sales at the Scotsdale Pub and the campground in Blowing Springs were among the POA’s success stories, Judson said. Lot sales have also contributed to the positive numbers.

The board approved an

application for liquor sales at the Metfield Clubhouse. The facility is already selling beer and wine and, with the new

permit, hard liquor can be added.

After the meeting, Judson said there will be a limited variety of liquor at the clubhouse, and mixed drinks will have to be very basic since there will be no bartender. The snack bar at Metfield is part of the golf division and is

run by the employees who work in the Pro Shop.

The POA is also pursuing a change in the permit for The Highlands so it can sell unopened beer to golfers to consume on the golf course. While the permit must be changed, the board of directors is not required to vote on it.
