Jacqueline Rose Hussman

Jacqueline Rose Hussman, 90, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 29,

2017, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, to Albert and Rosana Bohn in Holdingfor­d, Minn.

She and her family lived in Minneapoli­s, Minn., for 47 years where she was active with the community as a senior aide for 14 years. They moved to Bella Vista in 1995 and became members of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping, traveling, books, golf, fishing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Survivors include her loving husband of 69 years, Harold Hussman; two sons, Chris (Sue) Hussman of Champlin, Minn., and Doug (Cindy) Hussman of Maple Grove, Minn.; two daughters, Jorgette (Wally) Bistodeau of Champlin, Minn., and Kathryn (Hugh) Fleetham of Bloomingto­n, Minn.; one brother, Albert (Merrilee) of Minnesota; nine grandchild­ren; and four great-grandchild­ren.

Services will be held at a later date in Minneapoli­s.

Roy Johnson

Roy Lewis Johnson, 91, died Nov. 1, 2017. He was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Sharp County, Ark., the sixth of eight children, to Leona Ida Salzbrenne­r and Lewis McCorbin Johnson.

H e worked at a very young age to suppport his family and joined the Navy in 1944 where he was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. After his discharge, he settled in Joplin, Mo., to work for General Electric in Springfiel­d, Mo., and met his future wife, Joyce Weldon. They were married May 1, 1949, and had three children.

He resigned from GE in 1965 to become Operations Manager and then Vice President of Midland Internatio­nal in Kansas City, Mo., and raised their children for the next 23 years in Overland Park, Kan.

In 1975, he became Vice President and minority owner of Wood Specialty Products in Harrisonvi­lle, Mo., and when the company relocated to Rogers, Ark., in 1988, they settled in to their Bella Vista, Ark., home for the next 29 years.

Retirement years brought enjoyment of many life hobbies to include landscapin­g and remodeling of their home, bridge and golf. He enjoyed traveling the U.S.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law, Ron Martin.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Joyce; three children, Doug (Melissa) Johnson, Kathy Martin and Roger (Jill) Johnson; four grandsons, Jeremy (Angela) Johnson, Chris Johnson, Philip (Elo) Martin and Erik Martin; five great-grandchild­ren; sister, Shirley (Bill) Gray; and many nieces and nephews.

A service of worship and gratitude will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista.

Memorials may be made to the church or a charity of your choice in Roy’s name.

Raymond H. Kossoris

Raymond H. Kossoris, 90, of Tomahawk, Wis., died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, under the care of AseraCare Hospice at Riverview Health Services. He joined his beloved wife of 69 years, Shirley, who died Oct. 2, 2017, and their cherished son, Thomas, who died in 2007. He was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wis., to the late Benjamin and Evelyn (Schmidt) Kossoris.

He graduated from Rufus King High School and was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II. He married Shirley Kablitz on Sept. 18, 1948, in Milwaukee and resided in the Milwaukee area where he owned and operated Standard Store Equipment Company Inc. In 1990, they retired to Arkansas making many lifelong friends and memories until 2016 when they moved to Tomahawk and made Milestone Senior Living their home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; one son, Tom; and two brothers, Marvin (Jane) and Robert.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Sue) Kossoris, and Michael (Barb) Kossoris; one daughter-inlaw, Carole Kossoris; one brother, Gerald (Pat) Kossoris; two sisters-in-law, Orpha (Bob) Zeitelhack, and Delores Kossoris; and one brother-in-law, Paul Kablitz; seven grandchild­ren; and 11 great-grandchild­ren.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Dr. George Chauncey Sheldon

Dr. George Chauncey Sheldon, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Oct. 29, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark., from complicati­ons of prostate cancer. He was born April 6, 1934, in Dayton, Iowa, to Harold and Annetta Joy Patton Sheldon. He was predecease­d by his parents; two sisters, (Margaret and Gwen); and an infant son.

George graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, with a double major in music and science. He taught K-12 instrument­al and vocal music for two years. Then he attended and graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago, Illinois, with a Doctorate in Optometry. He began practicing in Bloomfield, Iowa, in 1961 and then moved to Fairfield, Iowa, in 1968 where he partnered with Dr. Roland Peaslee. Dr. Sheldon participat­ed in several medical mission trips through the Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity, examining and providing eye care and glasses to the needy in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. He practiced his profession for 32 years. In 1980 he married Joyce Christians­en Garlough and they retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1994.

George’s avocation had always been music. He sang as a child, played French Horn in the Southeast Iowa Symphony and sang in the choir in college, held a Musician’s Union Card and played with a dance band, sang in church choirs, men’s choruses, Barbershop Choruses, played trumpet in the Bella Vista Community Band, and was one of the original cornet players in the Ozark Mountains British Brass Band. He also acted in several plays and musicals.

Other interests included flying and he had a private pilot’s license, downhill snow-skiing, canoeing, traveling, reading, good and bad jokes, and lifelong learning.

Survivors include Joyce, his best friend and wife of 37 years; four children, Phillip Sheldon, David Sheldon, Joan Heguy, and Christine (Ron) King; four grandchild­ren, Tyson (Brittany) Sheldon, Britton Sheldon, Caroline Heguy, and Nicole King; several nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved them all dearly.

A special thank you to all the staff at Circle of Life Hospice who took such excellent and compassion­ate care of George these last several weeks. Your many kindnesses will long be remembered. His body has been donated to the Genesis Project of the Medical Education and Research Institute in Memphis, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Music Fund of Highlands United Methodist Church, Circle of Life Hospice, or the Ozark Mountains British Brass Band. A Celebratio­n of George’s Life will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Highlands United Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, Arkansas. The family requests that those attending wear something colorful and bright.

Susan Warshawsky

Susan Warshawsky, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Oct. 10, 2017. She was born Sept. 5, 1938 to George and Geraldine Burtovich in Burbank, Calif.

Shortly after graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles, she began a long working career at Douglas Aircraft.

Her early training in computer programmin­g at Douglas would eventually lead to jobs ranging from satellite navigation software to database and systems analysis. Her final working years were spent at Walmart, a company she loved, and the one that brought her to Arkansas in 1994.

She also found time to raise three sons and obtain a law degree from Western State University. She was an avid traveler and was particular­ly proud of her road trip through Canada to Alaska with her truck and trailer. Prior to that, she developed a special love for Italy while living and working there for Rockwell in the 1980s, and toured Europe extensivel­y.

Trained on the piano and the organ from an early age, she was a talented musician who loved to play Beethoven and Bach. She was also a self-taught artist who created some notable paintings. She loved pets and took wonderful care of her many cats and dogs through the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, John and George.

Survivors include her brother, Richard; three sons, James, Robert, and Steven; and two grandsons, Joshua and Conor.

Her wish to be interred with her parents in California will be honored. A graveside service and burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, Calif., at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018
