Ozark Mountain Music Fest Jan. 18-21

The 2018 Ozark Mountain Music Festival, better known as OzMoMu and an “outdoor music festival held indoors,” announced its headliners. Tall Tall Trees from Ashville, N.C., and Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy from Lawrence, Kan., will be performing on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively.

Tall Tall Trees website states that Mike Savino, who tours under the moniker Tall Tall Trees, has reshaped the landscape of what is possible with a banjo. “He breaks down the banjo into its most basic iteration, reminding audiences that the banjo is, at root, a drum. Coupled with his mastery of electronic effects, loops, toy ray guns, and heaps of spontaneous creativity, Tall Tall Trees has been encapsulating audience members worldwide with his mystifying solo shows.”

From its own website comes this overview of OzMoMu’s other headliner, “Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy is a high-energy ‘Brass ‘n’ Grass’ sextet from Wichita, Kan. The band, whose sound has been described as ‘a stagecoach in overdrive,’ has brought its eclectic blend of bluegrass, ska, punk, and Dixieland to packed clubs, basements and festivals across the U.S. since its inception in the spring of 2007. CNS has built a solid following, playing 47 states and five countries with its energetic live show.”

OzMoMu enters its fifth successful year of presenting Americana and roots music within a four-day weekend with a full schedule of bands. The full lineup will be set and published sometime in December.

All performances will be on stages in the 1905 Basin Park Hotel, located in the middle of Eureka Springs downtown entertainment district. The popular Late Night Jam on both Friday and Saturday nights will be held in nearby Chelsea’s Corner Cafe & Bar.
