Robert Belew Holmes
Robert Belew Holmes, 80, of Bella Vista, Ark., died on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Concordia Health & Rehabilitation of Bella Vista. He was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Stigler, Okla., to Graham E. and Margie Holmes.
He and his wife moved to Bella Vista 18 years ago from Morris, Minn. He was a member of the Community Church of Bella Vista, The American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge. He was a high school math teacher and coach for football and track in South Dakota. He was an assistant financial aid advisor at The University of Minnesota-Morris. He also worked as a salesperson for Culligan Water in Glenwood, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald Holmes, who was stillborn.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Pat Holmes of Bella Vista; three sons, James Holmes (Kelli) of Maumelle, Ark., Robert Holmes (Corey) of Delrey Beach, Fla., Michael Holmes of Bella Vista; one daughter, Susan Powell of Bella Vista; one brother, Gordon Holmes (Cathy) of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandchildren, Timothy Holmes, Stephanie Lynn Olson and Travis Holmes; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Bella Vista Community Church chapel.
