Friends of Library Christmas Basket Silent Auction
The Friends of the Library is hosting its final Christmas Basket Silent Auction. This yearly tradition is going out in style with many beautiful baskets. These wonderful creations make for easy Christmas shopping and the proceeds support the library. The silent auction will take place through Dec. 6.
Christmas at Dickens Place
The Bella Vista Public Library is excited to host Christmas at Dickens Place this December. Library staff looks forward to ushering in a new holiday tradition in Northwest Arkansas. The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Bella Vista Public Library. There will be beautiful lights, charming carolers and delicious food. Santa Claus will make an appearance. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy community holiday cheer and do some Christmas shopping from the fine artisans and craftsmen right here in Northwest Arkansas.
Shifu: Japanese Paper Thread
Presenter Susan Byrd will be at the library at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, to present information about a unique cloth from Japan woven from paper and called Shifu. The demonstration will include the paper thread-making process of folding and cutting paper into thin strips, rolling a sheet of cut paper and spinning it into a tightly twisted thread. Examples of paper thread and cloth from Japan and other countries will be brought to show and tell.
Freegal Music
The library has Freegal Music. This service, available through the Library website, allows patrons to listen to and download music for free. Patrons can access this service by using their library card.
Rocket Languages
The library offers Rocket Languages through its website. This language-learning service offers online courses for 15 different languages. A library card will give access.
Check out a Kindle
Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with several books and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See the library staff for the Check-Out agreement and procedure.

Encore Books
The Friends of the Library’s usedbook store is open six days a week during regular library hours. It offers everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children’s books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds from this ongoing fundraiser support the library. New books are added almost daily.
Exhibits
November’s displays are provided by Steve Morrow. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Rebecca at 479-855-1753.
Floral arrangement
November’s floral arrangement was designed and provided by Jan Grimm of the Bella Vista Garden Club. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patron enjoyment.
Hours of operation
Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with weekend hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Bella Vista Public Library is located just east of Town Center off Lancashire Blvd. at 11 Dickens Place (from Highway 340 East, turn at the Bella Vista Baptist Church).
