Bella Vista Chap­ter 1547 of the Na­tional Ac­tive and Re­tired Fed­eral Em­ploy­ees As­so­ci­a­tion will hold its next monthly meet­ing at 10 a.m. Fri­day, Dec. 8, in the Home­town Bank lo­cated at 21196 High­way 71 South, Pineville, Mo., just past Wal­mart. Its an­nual Christ­mas so­cial with en­ter­tain­ment by a Bar­ber­shop Quar­tet will be held. Punch, soft drinks and tea, dough­nuts and cook­ies will be pro­vided. Mem­bers are wel­come to bring along a fa­vorite snack to share.

A brief busi­ness meet­ing will be held, with Wally Shel­don giv­ing an up­date on leg­is­la­tion and also dis­cuss with more clar­ity the Blue Cross Medi­care Part B pre­mium re­im­burse­ment. Mem­bers will be as­sisted with any changes they would like to make the last few days of open sea­son. All cur­rent and re­tired fed­eral em­ploy­ees and their spouses are wel­come.

Bella Vista Chris­tian Women’s Con­nec­tion

The Bella Vista Chris­tian Women’s Con­nec­tion will meet at 9 a.m. Tues­day, Dec. 12, at the Bella Vista Com­mu­nity Church, 75 Lan­cashire Blvd. This month’s fea­ture is Christ­mas mu­sic with the High­lands Winds, along with an all-Amer­i­can brunch; cost is $10. Guest speaker, Sharita Bent, will speak to the topic of “Wake! Pray! Slay!”

Bella Vista Dec­o­ra­tive Artists

The Bella Vista Dec­o­ra­tive Artists meet at 9 a.m. the sec­ond Satur­day of each month for a busi­ness meet­ing and paint­ing session at Wish­ing Spring Stu­dio, 8862 W. McNelly Road (next to Wal­greens). The pur­pose of the chap­ter is to stim­u­late in­ter­est and ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the art of paint­ing. BVDA does a va­ri­ety of ser­vice projects. This year, the group is work­ing with the Vil­lage House in Bella Vista, the Chil­dren’s Shel­ter and pro­vid­ing mem­ory boxes for lo­cal hos­pi­tals. Each month BVDA has a chap­ter mem­ber or a visit­ing na­tional artist teach an art project in acrylics, oils, wa­ter­color or mixed medi­ums. Pain­ters of all skill lev­els make up the BVDA chap­ter.

Line Dance Club

A be­gin­ners class will meet from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Wed­nes­days and Fri­days, be­gin­ning Jan. 3, 2018, at Ri­or­dan Hall in Bella Vista. Reg­is­tra­tion fee is $20. There is also a $30 an­nual fee, payable to Ri­or­dan Hall, and for those with­out a Bella Vista photo ID, there is a $2.50 per class fee to Ri­or­dan Hall. The class will be taught by Kris­tine Schaap, who has taught be­gin­ners for sev­eral years. New dancers will learn line danc­ing steps and dances that in­cor­po­rate those steps. Dancers will also re­ceive hand­outs, lots of prac­tice and per­sonal at­ten­tion. Line danc­ing is an en­joy­able way to get great ex­er­cise.

His­tory Club

The next His­tory Club meet­ing will be held at the Bella Vista His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum at 6:30 p.m. Thurs­day, Dec. 14, with a show­ing of the Jesse James movie filmed in Pineville, Mo., in 1938. Fam­i­lies are wel­come to come take a break from Christ­mas shop­ping to en­joy the movie and find out why Bella Vista has a role in the story of the mak­ing of this movie. Ad­mis­sion is free and pop­corn will be served. The Bella Vista His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum is lo­cated at the cor­ner of High­way 71 and Kings­land, next door to the Amer­i­can Le­gion.

Wood­carvers Club

The Bella Vista Wood­carvers Club in­vites new mem­bers to its club. The year 2018 marks the be­gin­ning of the club’s 31st year as a club with non­profit sta­tus. Mem­ber carvers hold vary­ing lev­els of carv­ing skills from beginner to master skilled and are will­ing to teach at no cost. There are sev­eral women mem­bers who work with py­rog­ra­phy (wood burning) as well as carv­ing, and one mem­ber works with chain-saw carv­ing. The Wood­carvers Club teaches soap carv­ing classes to young area chil­dren in the Amazeum, at Cub Scouts and at the Bella Vista Pub­lic Li­brary.

The Bella Vista Am­a­teur Ra­dio Club also of­fers Am­a­teur Ra­dio li­cense test­ing through the Amer­i­can Ra­dio Re­lay League (ARRL). Bella Vista Women’s Cho­rus in­vites singers from the Tri-County Area to join this cho­ral de­light. No try­outs or ex­pe­ri­ence are needed. Fly Ty­ers Club

The Fly Ty­ers Club meets 9 a.m. ev­ery Thurs­day at Ri­or­dan Hall for a so­cial hour, fol­lowed by a meet­ing from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fishing, con­ser­va­tion and ser­vice or­ga­ni­za­tion with ap­prox­i­mately 150 mem­bers. This group of men and women share a com­mon in­ter­est in fishing (both warm and cold-wa­ter species) found in the lo­cal streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also pro­motes lake con­ser­va­tion, recre­ational ac­tiv­i­ties and con­ducts ser­vice projects through­out Northwest Arkansas.

Pride of the Ozarks Bar­ber­shop Cho­rus

Pride of the Ozarks Bar­ber­shop Cho­rus meets from 7 to 9 p.m. ev­ery Thurs­day at In­n­is­free Se­nior Liv­ing Com­mu­nity, 300 In­n­is­free Cir­cle, Rogers, which is one block east on 24th and Wal­nut streets.
