Eunice I. Albers

Eunice I. Albers, 90, of Bella Vista, died Jan. 19, 2018.

She was born in Muskegon, Mich., on July 6, 1927, to Aaron and Nina Lovejoy Ryefield. She attended Muskegon High School and Muskegon School of Business. She married Keith Dean Albers on Feb. 21, 1953, in Washington, D.C., after a two-week courtship that lasted 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Lawrence A. Ryefield; and four sisters, Joyce C. Alfultis, Ardath L. Jensen, Betty J. DeBoer and Esther E. Wheeley.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Chris) Coffman and Karen (Gary) Cornelius; four grandchild­ren; five great-grandchild­ren; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Ryefield Ritter.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. Arrangemen­ts are by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, Bella Vista.

Howard Martin Biesterfel­d

Howard Martin Biesterfel­d, 88, of Bella Vista, died Jan. 14, 2018.

He was born June 10, 1929, in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Martin Biesterfel­d and Selma Biesterfel­d. After 41 years of service, he retired from J.C. Penney as store manager. He was an active member of the Lions Club for more than 25 years and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Beyer and Audrey Walters.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ula Biesterfel­d; two sons, James Biesterfel­d of Sumner, Wash., Craig Biesterfel­d of St. Louis.; one daughter, Peggy Wagner of Hannibal, Mo.; two brothers, Roland Biesterfel­d and Kenneth Biesterfel­d, both of Crete, Ill.; sister, Geraldine Erickson of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 18, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church. Burial was at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts were by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Letitia June Carver

Letitia (Letty) June Carver, 82, of Bentonvill­e, died. Jan. 18, 2018.

She was born June 1, 1935, in Indianola, Iowa, to James Leroy Benshoof and Mabel Marie Hughes Benshoof. She was employed by Sears as a hearing aid specialist prior to her retirement. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Carver; and three brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Cullene Clayton ( Jim) of Bella Vista; a sister, Marie Sarratt of Broken Arrow, Okla., and a brother, Harry Benshoof of Des Moines, Iowa; and five grandchild­ren.

A memorial service will be held at Combs Baptist Church in Combs, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, with Jim Clayton officiatin­g. Arrangemen­ts are by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

John R. Frickson

John R. Frickson, 79, of Bella Vista, died Jan. 18, 2018, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayettevil­le.

He was born

Sept. 7,

1938, to Richard and Marie Frickson in Freeport, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Chrysler Corporatio­n as a work coordinato­r. He moved to Bella Vista from Rockford, Ill., in 1995. He played with the Jelly Bellies until he realized he hated golf, but he enjoyed being a part of Fly Tyers and enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Kay Frickson of the home; son, Ken (Tracy) Frickson of Rockton, Ill.; four daughters, Rose Frickson of Love’s Park, Ill., Julie Garza of Las Vegas, Nev., Molly Jo (Phillip) McGinnis and Erin McGinnis, both of Aurora, Colo.; three sisters, Jane (Donald) Stacy of Winnebago, Ill., Judy Pauley and Joyce Jones, both of Rockford, Ill; and six grandchild­ren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista.

Alfaro J. Martinez

Alfaro J Martinez, 89, died Jan. 13, 2018.

He was born in Dawson, N.M., in 1928. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years and was awarded Bronze

Star in 1966 for meritoriou­s service and the Vietnam Veteran of the Year 1966 in Kansas City, Mo. With two tours of Vietnam and two tours in Korea, he had more than 28,000 hours flying for the U.S.A.F. He was a resident of Bella Vista for 10 years. He was an avid golfer and devoted to helping St Jude Hospital and the Humane Society.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Martinez; two sons, Daniel A Martinez (Kim) of Bella Vista, Ronald F Martinez (Donna Duffield) of Blue Springs Mo.; three grandchild­ren; and siblings Froylan Martinez, Linda Adams, Lionel Martinez and Ernestina Walker.

Visitation was held Friday, Jan 19, at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, Bella Vista, followed by a Rosary and Mass of the Resurrecti­on at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Bella Vista. Burial was at the Bella Vista Cemetery with military honors.

Irl Emerson Palmer

Irl Emerson Palmer, 93, died Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 12, 1924, in Hutchinson, the son of Irl E. Sr. and Ola Maude (Adtkinson) Palmer.

Irl graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1942, attended Hutchinson Community College and Michigan State University. He was a salesman at Winchester Packing Corporatio­n for fifty years, retiring in 1986. Irl was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Boy Scouts of America, and Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Irl proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

On May 31, 1947, he married Betty Ann Brandon in Hutchinson. She died June 27, 2013.

Irl is survived by: son, Mark Palmer of Wichita; daughter, Martha Mick and husband Tom of Tampa, FL; daughter-inlaw Becky Palmer of Katy, TX; sisters-in-law, Ginny Palmer of Alaska and Cordy Brandon of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchild­ren; 17 great-grandchild­ren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Mike Palmer; brother, Bob; sister, Elizabeth Snyder; brother-in-law and wife, Cecil and Chris Brandon; and brother-in-law, Allen Brandon.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Wesley Towers Evans Chapel, 3709 Asbury Place, Hutchinson with the Reverend Michael L. McGuire presiding. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Honor Guard. Friends may sign his register book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until service time on February 17, 2018, at Evans Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church (youth activities), Hospice House, or Wesley Towers (activities) in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Larry Roland

Larry Roland, 59, of Bentonvill­e died Jan. 18, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice, Legacy Village.

He was born to Elmer W. Roland and Gladys M. Hublitz in El Dorado, Kan., on Jan. 12, 1959. He moved to Bentonvill­e in 1988 from Medicine Lodge, Kan., and worked for Kingswood Golf Course in Bella Vista. He enjoyed golf and working all the events. He was also a fisherman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Gale Roland (fiance, Amy Kesner) of Bella Vista, and Jeremy Roland of Bentonvill­e; brothers, DeWyte (Janet) Roland, Charles (Judy) Roland; sister, Veneta (Bill) Chapin of Hutchinson, Kan.; four grandchild­ren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, Bella Vista, with Fred Schaap officiatin­g.

Barbara Jean Rosser

Barbara Jean Rosser, 81, of Bella Vista died at home on Jan. 19, 2018.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1936, in Willington, Texas, to Martha and Jewel Jones.

Lucretia Sailors Sherrer

Lucretia Sailors Sherrer, 91, died Jan. 15, 2018, in Omaha, Neb.

She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Antlers, Okla. She was a graduate of Ant- lers High School and Oklahoma State University. Much of her life was spent in Ada, Okla., where she raised her family. In 1999 she moved to Bella Vista, where she resided until her husband died. She was a member of the Bella Vista Baptist Church. Before marriage, she was a teacher in Clayton, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett L. Sherrer; parents, Lemuel T. Sailors and Catherine Louise Rosenbaum Sailors; and sister, Barbara Smith.

Survivors include son, Joe Sherrer (Liz) of Moore, Okla.; daughter, Susan Allen (Geoff ) of Omaha; and five grandchild­ren, Tim Allen (Jen) of Broomfield, Colo., Andy Sherrer (Megan) of Norman, Okla., Josh Allen (Dave McWilliams) of Minneapoli­s; Jennifer Agilar (Tony) of Omaha, and John Sherrer (Joni) of Norman.

A family graveside service was held Friday, Jan. 19, at the Bella Vista Cemetery in Bella Vista. Her son, Joe Sherrer, officiated the service. Arrangemen­ts were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kenneth R. Shoup

Kenneth R. Shoup, 84, of Bella Vista died Jan. 14, 2018.

He was born March 7, 1933, to Berneice and Frank Shoup in Webb City, Mo. He served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman during the Korean War. He graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in biology and chemistry and worked in aerospace most of his life.

He was employed with Douglas

Aircraft at

Cape Canaveral and retired with a division of Lockheed in the Dallas area. As a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, he sang in the choir and also the Bella Vista Men’s Chorus. He also served on the Village Wastewater board of directors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Shoup; and sister, Janice Morton.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley; daughter, Kimberly Lowry of Bella Vista; son, Chris (Pamela) Shoup of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Charles (Kay) Shoup, Larry Shoup; sister, Doris Beckham; and three grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 20, at Bella Vista Community Church, with Jeff Reed officiatin­g. Arrangemen­ts were by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Kenneth D. Smith

Kenneth D. Smith, 77, of Rogers, formerly of Bella Vista, died Jan. 21, 2018, in his home.

He was born June 1, 1940, to Oriel and Eula Smith in Creston, Iowa. He lived in the northwest Arkansas area since 1985 and was a member of the Bentonvill­e Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Jean Ann; two brothers, Don Smith and Carroll Smith; and sister, Shirley Smith.

Survivors include four children, Roger Smith (Anna Anderson) of Temple, Texas, Rodrick Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Randall Smith of Rogers, and Korey Smith of Rogers; and seven grandchild­ren.

Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Epting Funeral Home of Bentonvill­e. Funeral Service and placement of cremated remains with military honors will be Thursday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m., at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le. Arrangemen­ts are by Epting Funeral Home.
