Moehring seeks second term as Benton County Judge
BENTONVILLE — Barry Moehring announced Friday he will seek a second term as Benton County judge.
Moehring, 51, of Bentonville was elect- ed in 2016. Beginning in 2019, county officials will serve fouryear terms. The salary for Benton County judge is $100,555 in 2018. The salaries of elected officials are set by the Quorum Court in each year’s budget within a range established by the state.
“It has been a privilege to serve the citizens of Benton County,” Moehring said. “And with their permission, I would like to continue the progress we’ve made to bring change to Benton County.”
Moehring cited Benton County’s new courts facility as one example of the progress made.
“With the collaboration of the Benton County Quorum Court, we’ve selected a downtown Bentonville location, hired a world-class facility, architecture and construction team and are well down the road of a final design of the new courts facility,” he said.
Moehring ran on three key initiatives in 2016, and he plans to continue them if elected to a second term They are: financial stewardship; trust, integrity and transparency; and longrange planning.
“Of all the things we worked on this past year, getting War Eagle Bridge opened under budget and ahead of schedule may have been our proudest moment,” he said.
The filing period for the May 22 party primary election begins Feb. 22 and ends March 1. The general election is Nov. 6.
