Fix it

-

POA Board Members (directed to Golf Committee),

I drove by Berksdale Golf Course after the last rain. There is more extensive damage since the prior rain — especially on #18 along Highway 71. You are like the federal government — kicking the can down the road — us golfers are tired of the ball being kicked down the fairway! We — the golfers of BV — are demanding that you fix Berksdale, Kingswood and the Country Club courses so this problem doesn’t occur over and over again. I wrote you earlier on how this situation could be fixed and got a reply stating they couldn’t put up a barrier around the entire golf course. This is not what I suggested. I said, put the fence/barrier where it is needed to stop the flooding and erosion.

You have no problem spending big bucks at Lake Point and Branchwood. Why isn’t Lake Point open every day, especially when so much money has been invested? I understand that Branchwood needed upgrading and Lake Point was wanted by many (?) — but the golf courses should also be a priority. There is definitely money to be made when they are open! The golf courses will make more money than Lake Point — starting immediately. We are losing tournaments at Berksdale and Kingswood because of constant rain damage. It is time to take measures to stop this constant eroding and damage.

Selling the land up north could probably fund this project (1.1-1.2 million dollar bids). Bella Vista golfers helped finance much of this land when it was purchased. It seems fair that money from it would be given back to the golf division to improve our courses.

If you members can’t and/or won’t take action to solve this problem, resign! Do you work for us or do we work for you?

Golf prices are getting too high in BV. How about running more specials, etc.?

Several months ago, a golfer stated in his letter to the editor that he had requested shoe cleaners be installed at the courses. He was told this was too expensive — but Branchwood and Lake Point aren’t? Lynn Law Bella Vista
