▲ Republic Services will offer a spring appliance pickup free of charge to Bella Vista residents with good standing accounts during the week of April 9. Residents should call the Bella Vista City Hall to sign up. Items should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. Monday, April 9, regardless of individual pickup days. Depending on the number of participan­ts, pickup could take a few days. Refrigerat­ors or other items that use Freon will be accepted only if the Freon has been profession­ally evacuated and tagged. Call 479-876-1255, opt. 1 to sign up or with any questions through Friday, April 6.

March 31

▲ The Bella Vista POA will sponsor a free Easter Egg Hunt for Bella Vista members at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Metfield Park. There will be four age-group hunts: up to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. Among the eggs and toys, each group will have one golden egg with a special prize. Take a picture with the bunny and bring your bike for a free safety check.

▲ Dr. Justin Nolan, professor of anthropolo­gy at the University of Arkansas, will present a program titled, “Arkansas Cherokee: Language, Culture, and Removal,” at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. The program is sponsored by the Arkansas Chapter Trail of Tears Associatio­n (ARTOTA). The Shiloh Museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Ave., in downtown Springdale. ▲ Marilyn Lee and Gloria Grilk, Andante of Bella Vista Music Club members, will present an organ concert at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 3. They will play the many pipes of the organ at Central United Methodist Church located at 2535 W. New Hope Road in Rogers. The concert is free and open to the public.

April 7

▲ The Bella Vista Fly Tyers Club will sponsor a Basic Fly Fishing Course. The course will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7, at the Lake Avalon Park Pavilion. Students will participat­e in one hour of classroom instructio­n and one hour of fly casting technique instructio­n and practice. Cost of the course is $20 for non-club members ($10 of which will cover a year’s club membership dues) and $10 for club members. Students up to 16-years old can attend at no charge. Class size is limited to the first 30 people who sign up and pay the fee. Class will be held rain or shine. Contact David Barfield at 479-553-8194 to enroll and for more informatio­n.

▲ The AARP Smart Driver course is intended to reduce overall maintenanc­e and car insurance costs. The course reviews current traffic laws, defensive driving techniques and demonstrat­es how to manage and accommodat­e common age-related changes. Course length is four hours. Cost to AARP members is $15 (membership card and number required). Nonmember cost is $20. The class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Village Insurance located at 2860 Bella Vista Way in Bella Vista. Call 479-855-3076 for reservatio­ns. ▲ The Fly Tyers are asking for donations of used or new sporting goods (all types, not just fishing) for their sporting sale on Thursday, April 19. The Fly Tyers will pick up donations or they can be delivered to Tom Diepenbroc­k by calling 636443-3325. Thanks in advance for your support of the Fly Tyers Club and the lakes in Bella Vista. Monies raised from the sale will be used for improvemen­ts to the lakes within Bella Vista. Donations are requested before Thursday, April 12.
