Unitarian Universali­sts

UUBC's theme for the month of May is “Freedom.” May 13 features discussion of a homily titled “The Limits of Freedom” written by Unitarian Universali­st minister the Rev. Roger Bertschaus­en, Fox Valley Unitarian Universali­st Fellowship, Appleton, Wis.

United Lutheran Church

Family Art Night at 6 p.m. Friday, May 11, is an opportunit­y to join in on a fun project with family and friends. No RSVP necessary. This month there will be a fun painting project. This event happens monthly, but will take a break during the summer months.

Breakfast Club at 8 a.m. Monday, May 14. There will be a guest speaker, Robert McAfee, a climatolog­ist. Also, Dick Muller will give a devotional for the occasion. This event happens monthly. Please contact the church to RSVP, 479855-1325.

St. Bernard Catholic Church

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus will be performing for the St. Bernard Women's Club in Bella Vista at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 11. The public is welcome to attend.

Bella Vista Community Church

Barry Lunney Sr., Arkansas Hall of Fame football coach, will speak at the Community Church at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19. He will talk of his coahing career, work with Prison Ministry and his work as the Northwest Arkansas Interim Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Lunny went 248-90 during his 28 year coaching career, including a 97-25 run with the Bentonvill­e Tigers. Bentonvill­e won four of its five state championsh­ips under Lunney. He also led Southside to four state titles. Coach Lunney is recognized as one of the most successful high school football coaches in Arkansas. He is a man of great character, high standards, compassion, and dedication to preparing young men for not only Friday night football success but also success in life. The Bella Vista Police Department hosts U.S. Attorney for Western Arkansas Duane Kees at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, in the sanctuary. The free workshop topic is “Fraud.”

Summer Arts Camp is Monday-Friday, June 18-22, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for kids entering grades one through six. Brochures and registrati­on forms are available in the church office, or register online at bvcc.net.

Highlands Church (United Methodist)

The Community Blood Drive will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Highlands Church. Plan to eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the event. Receive a free cholestero­l screening! Photo identifica­tion will be required. Help make a difference in your community by giving blood.

Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista

The Chamber Singers of the University of the Ozarks will present a concert titled, “Songs of the Sea,” at 3 p.m. Friday, May 18 in the PCBV Sanctuary. The concert is the final performanc­e of the choir's spring tour, which runs from May 13-18 and includes five performanc­es at churches in Northwest Arkansas, Kansas City and Springfiel­d, Mo. Under the direction of assistant professor of music and choral conductor, Dr. Jonathan Ledger, the concert will feature a wide variety of choral repertoire from all style periods that

relate to themes of the sea, including reflection­s, exploratio­n, adventure, tragedy, loss and mediations. The event is open to the public and there is no cost for admission. For more informatio­n, call the church office at 855-2390.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

The Fellowship Team of Bella Vista Lutheran Church is sponsoring a donation drive for the Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter in May. A box is provided in the church narthex for donations of shelf-stable healthy drinks and snacks such as seeds, nuts, dried fruit, low-sugar trail mix, air-popped popcorn,

low-sodium jerky, juice, juice boxes, crackers and nut butter.

On Saturday, May 19, there will be a “Rod and Custom Car Show” at Bella Vista Lutheran Church. This is the third annual Car Show and it will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Village Bible Church

Pastor Mark Voll will continue his “The Gospel of Mark!” sermon series. This Sunday's sermon is titled “Inspiratio­nal Sacrifices” with a text of Mark 12:41-44.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, a ladies' KniTTogeth­er ministry and the White Cross Women's Mission ministry will meetat the Village Bible Church. This ladies informal fellowship works on projects that benefit needy children and adults in our area as well as a hospital in Congo. Any ladies from the community are welcome to come and learn more about these ministries.
