▲ AARP Arkansas will host a free showing of the documentary film “Hot Coffee,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Riordan Hall in the Craft Room located at 3 Riordan Dr. in Bella Vista. This documentary film explores the famous McDonald's hot coffee case and presents a view of the case that may be unfamiliar. Filmmaker and public interest lawyer Susan Saladoff uses the legal battle that began with a spilled cup of coffee to investigate what's behind America's zeal for tort “reform.” The film is free to view but space is limited and registration is encouraged. The film will be followed by a Q&A session regarding proposed Ballot Issue 1: Civil Lawsuit Reform. AARP is showing the film at multiple locations. ▲ The Bella Vista Animal Shelter will hold a Charity Garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Wednesday through Saturday, May 16-19. The Shelter depends on article donations for a successful sale and are currently accepting donations from the public with the exception of clothing and out-dated electronics. Call for furniture and large item drop-off appointments for either Blue Mountain Storage on Trafalgar or the 2 Leafield Lane locations by calling Hostess, Anita Werts at 479366-2265. Donations can also be dropped off at the shelter location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday by calling Dee Dee Matney at 479-644-6229. All proceeds will benefit the shelter.

▲ The Institute of Music, Worship & the Arts (IMWA) in Bella Vista is hosting a Benefit Concert and Tea at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 17. The benefit includes an elegant candlelight dinner with music and a special concert performance. Tickets are $20 each or four for $15. ▲ Bella Vista Garden Club's 2018 garden party will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Simple Pleasures, 13718 Rothbury Drive in Bella Vista. Held in cooperation with the City of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista POA, the event will feature local artists, music, delicious appetizers, wine, raffles, a silent auction and much more.
