Couples 9 and Dine Golf Tournament

This event is for members only and held Friday, June 22, at the Bella Vista Country Club. The tournament will consist of a two-person scramble. Both team members will hit their designated tee on each hole. The team will select the preferred tee shot with both members playing from this position for their second shot. This procedure will continue until the ball is holed out. Each team member must contribute three drives during the round.

The schedule will begin with a 4:30 p.m. shotgun start and dinner to follow at the BV Bar and Grill, prepared by Chef Jerry James. Awards will be presented at dinner. Men will utilize white tees — 74 or younger and red tees — 75 and older; women will use red tees — 74 or younger and gold tees — 75 and older. Team handicap is calculated by adding together 35 percent of “A” players and 15 percent of “B” players course handicaps. Mulligans can be purchased at $5 each, with a one per player limit (cash or check only, please). Entry fee is $30 per player plus applicable green and cart fees. Entry fee includes prizes and dinner after play. Prizes will be gross and net awards in the form of gift certificat­es.

Registrati­on and cancellati­on deadline was 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, with a $10 late registrati­on fee in place.

Fourth of July Couples Scramble

A four-person couple (two men and two women) scramble tournament is being hosted by Friends of the Highlands at the Highlands Golf Course Wednesday, July 4, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Participan­ts must be checked in by 8:30 a.m. Dinner and awards will be at approximat­ely 2 p.m. inside the Highlands clubhouse, with great door prizes. Soft drinks and water will be provided on the course.

Women will play from the red tees; men 75-plus may also play from the red tees. All others will play from the white tees. Tournament will be flighted after play. This tournament is a four-person scramble. Individual couples can submit their informatio­n to be paired with another couple. There is an automatic two-putt rule from the green only. There will be flight prizes and closest-to-the-pin contests. Mulligans are $1 each (maximum two per person). There is a special hole-inone contest, a $250 cash prize ($5 per couple). Pro-drive is available at $5 per couple. Cancellati­on must be made by Wednesday, June 27, in order to receive a full refund. Entry fee is $65 per couple, plus applicable green and cart fees. Entry fee includes prizes and dinner after play. In case of inclement weather, dinner will still be served and prizes awarded. Help BVAS help animals in need and swing with the big dogs. Registrati­on begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. sharp, Saturday, July 21, at the Kingswood Golf Course in Bella Vista.
