LETTER EDITOR TO THE
A Bella Vista gem — a marketing idea!
Have you been to the Bella Vista Historical Museum located on U.S. Highway 71 and Kingsland Drive lately?
It is bright, cheery, staffed by knowledgeable volunteers from Bella Vista and stuffed with so much history of this area! Very well organized and displayed. Check it out soon!
It could also serve as a sub-BV Welcome Center. The museum is located in a prime location with heavy traffic flowing north and south on U.S. Hwy. 71. Thousands of motorists pass by every day — all prospects for Bella Vista — renting units, museum, lodging, real estate, trail systems, tourism (Cooper Chapel, Veterans Wall of Honor Memorial, Country Club, etc.).
The Country Club site is beautiful and houses a great food establishment, but not every motorist can find the way there — the museum would make a great sub-point for the Country Club site directing the motorist to the establishment during its open hours.
With the cooperation of the POA and the city of Bella Vista, a group could erect two highway signs, one northbound and one southbound on U.S. Hwy. 71; or a small sign could be placed with the two existing Bella Vista entrance signs that read something like this:
Visit the Bella Vista Historical Museum and Welcome Center
2 miles
Next to the American Legion Post Headquarters
Free information, free coffee, free conversation
Direction to food, lodging, trails, attractions
The museum could display a portable A-frame sign put out near the highway when open (currently open Wednesday through Sunday). Possibly, it could be open seven days a week with some additional volunteers from local real estate agents and/or residents?
We’re blessed with all of that traffic and potential paying visitors. All we need to do is direct them in person to the wonderful things we have to offer at a one-stop “Welcome to our Bella Gem” establishment. The excitement alone in our volunteers who staff the museum will send them into Bella Vista establishments as paying visitors!
