Richard D. Kattell

Richard D. Kattell, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark. died July 22, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark.

He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Fort Wayne,

Ind., to Sherman C. and Gladys Dennis Kattell. He served in the U.S. Army after graduation from DePauw University. He retired to Bella Vista in 1989 as a mortgage banker, and served on the nominating and election committees of the Bella Vista POA and the Townhouse Board. He volunteere­d 16 years at the Bella Vista Police Department as a lobby volunteer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ellen Kattell Bauerle.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Barbara Kattell; children, Amy Kattell, John Kattell, Steve Kattell, Chris Waris, Trish Kattell; and six grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Bella Vista Community Church with Dr. Anna Teel officiatin­g.

Marion Bernice Martin

Marion Bernice Martin, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark. died peacefully July 22, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayettevil­le.

She was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Melrose Park, Ill., to Henry and Emilie (Trenkler) Greinke. She attended Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park and graduated from Proviso East in Maywood, Ill., in 1947. She married Paul Pennell on June 25, 1949. She worked for Hearst Publicatio­n in Chicago and for Decatur, Ill., public schools before retiring to Bella Vista in 1994. She was a member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; her husband of 68 years, Paul Martin; and a son-in-law.

Survivors include her children, Crystal F. Martin of Bella Vista, Gregory P. Martin (Chris) of Houston, Texas, Heather Robertson of New Windsor, Md.; and five grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held Friday, July 27, 2018, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd, Bella Vista, Ark.

Pearl Costa Nelson

Pearl Costa Nelson of Bella Vista, Ark., died July 20, 2018, at age 95.

She was born July 17, 1923, in Honolulu, and spent her entire life in Hawaii until moving to Bella Vista in 2016 to be near her daughter. She married Hank Nelson in 1946 after he returned from duty in the Pacific during WWII. She was a loyal parishione­r and accountant at Saint George Catholic Church in Waimanalo, Hawaii.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Hanley (Tom) of Bella Vista; grandson, Chris Delaunay (Katrina) of Kaneohe, Hawaii; and her sister, Audrey Buna of California.

Donna Jeanne Oehlert

Donna Jeanne (Douglas) Oehlert, 78, of Bella Vista, Ark., died July 27, 2018, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark., following a long battle with de- mentia.

She was born to the late Howard and Marjorie Douglas on Nov. 9, 1940, in Gulfport Miss. She called Northwest Arkansas her home for the past four decades. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, dancing and fishing.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gary Oehlert; three children, Charla (Mark) Everhart, Gary (Alexandra) Patterson, Richard (Teresa) Patterson; three stepchildr­en, Linda, James and Jerry; 18 grandchild­ren; brother, Harty Douglas; and sister, Patricia Dupuis.

Memorial contributi­ons may be sent to the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark. Please insert “In Memory of Donna Oehlert” in the memo section.

Lynn Carol Scanlan

Lynn Carol Scanlan, 72, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Buege.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Scanlan of the home; daughter, Julie (Jose); one granddaugh­ter; mother, Ellen L. Buege; and one brother, Lawrence Buege (Ellen).

Richard Skrei

Richard “Dick” Skrei of Bella Vista, Ark., died at Legacy Circle of Life Hospice, July 23, 2018.

He was born March 2, 1931 to Obert and Evelyn Skrei of Glyndon, Minn., where he grew up working the farm. He left the farm to study agricultur­al business and play baseball for Iowa State University. He married Ann Beno, a fellow student. They retired to Bella Vista in 2005. He enjoyed watching sports, golfing, puzzles, fishing, traveling and 12 years of volunteeri­ng with Meals on Wheels and the Northwest Medical Center informatio­n desk.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ann; his parents; brothers, Ted, Paul and Michael; sisters, Barbara Brown and Karen Walker; and one daughter at birth.

Survivors include three children, Sandra Skrei Mock of Glen Rose, Texas, Steven (Sue) Skrei of Columbus, Ohio, and Paul (Beth) Skrei of Bella Vista; and four grandchild­ren.

A family memorial and interment of his ashes will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Glyndon, Minn.
