Old-growth flooded forests of Arkansas
Old-growth flooded forests (some with bald cypress trees 1,000 years old) still line select bayous and oxbow lakes in the Arkansas Delta. The OXBOW research project intends to focus conservation on the priority of oldgrowth flooded forest habitats left in Arkansas. Join us at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, for an interactive presentation covering this summer’s fieldwork in the Cache River Watershed, particularly within Bayou DeView. Learn how old-growth stands are discovered using geographic information systems.

Join independent insurance agent Jeremy Janes at the library at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, for an educational presentation on the 2019 changes to Medicare and how they will affect individuals on Medicare.

All ages are sure to enjoy an upclose look at two species of amazing birds. Wildlife rehabilitator Lynn Sciumbato will be at the library at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, with a turkey vulture and a barred owl.
