March 15
▲ In honor of Archaeology Month this March, join the city for a different spin on the usual Back 40 Story events — an indoor presentation on Ozark Bluff Shelters. Mel Zabecki from the University of Arkansas Archaeology Survey will give the presentation titled “The Archaeology of Northwest Arkansas” to focus on archaeology from our local area. She will cover sites from both the recent and distant past. The presentation is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Riordan Hall. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
▲ The John Brown University Cathedral Choir will kick off its spring concert tour at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Village Baptist Church, located at 380 Glasgow Road in Bella Vista. ▲ The Bella Vista Garden Club will host its annual “Cards and Games Party” from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Bella Vista Community Church, located at 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. in Bella Vista. The event includes raffle drawings and lunch, with coffee, tea and water provided. Proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for students studying horticulture at Northwest Arkansas colleges and universities. The club began taking reservations on Sunday, Feb. 17. March 24
▲ The Bella Vista Historical Museum will present a program at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, by Dale Phillips on the importance of the War of 1812 and in particular on the Battle of New Orleans. A recent retiree to Bella Vista, Phillips was with the National Park Service for 41 years, including 10 years as manager of the Chalmette Battle of New Orleans site. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The museum is located at Kingsland Road and U.S Highway 71, next door to the American Legion. For information, call 479-855-2335.
