Rules and Regs names chairman
The new chairman for the Rules And Regulations is Jerry Hover, the only member who served on the committee last year. The committee met after the board meeting last Thursday.
After each board election, committee assignments are reconsidered so new board members can serve on the committees that interest them. Rules and Regulations has two brand new board members, Steve McKee and Teah Bidwell, along with Hover and David Brandenburg. At the first meeting after the election in June, Hover and McKee were both nominated as chairman and the vote was tied. Last week, Hover was the only nomination. The vote was three to one with McKee voting against Hover.
The committee considered one bylaw during the meeting and agreed to pass it on to the board for a vote. Article X, Section Two concerns the POA board voting lots during elections. Since the POA owns lots and doesn’t owe assessments, some members believed that the votes that go with those lots should be cast by the POA board. Other members disagreed. During the campaign for an assessment increase last year, it became apparent that practice was very controversial.
The proposed policy clearly states that the board cannot use the votes derived from association owned lots. The board will probably vote on the policy in August.
The committee has been meeting only when called for the past few years. They agreed to meet again on Aug. 8, sometime after the closed meeting between the general manager and the board which begins at 2:30 p.m.
