June (Clark) Benedict

June (Clark) Benedict, 95, of Manhattan, Kan., died at her home Saturday July 20, 2019, surrounded by her family,

She was born July 19, 1924, in Barnes, Kan., the daughter of Marie and Warren Clark. She attended Waterville, Kan., schools and graduated high school with the class of 1942. She married Robert Benedict April 4, 1943. She enjoyed traveling, golf, bridge, and helping run the family-owned business Coastto-Coast Hardware Store in Garden City, Kan., for 25 years. They retired to Bella Vista, Ark., and eventually moved back to Manhattan to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Bob; her parents; and brother, Lowell.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Herde (John); and three grandchild­ren.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan, with the Rev. Melanie Nord officiatin­g.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Meadowlark Hills Good Samaritan Fund or the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kan. Contributi­ons may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.

William Langston Davidson

William Langston Davidson, 97, of Bella Vista, Ark., died July 17, 2019.

He was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Quenemo, Kan., to William H. and Lou Ann Davidson. He served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1946, he married Mary B. Davidson. He retired as vice president and general manager of Solid-State Sonics and Electronic­s in 1983 and moved to Bella Vista. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary B. Davidson who died Aug. 4, 2003.

He is survived by his son, Craig L. Davidson of Bella Vista; and three grandsons.

A memorial service was held at Bella Vista Community Church on Saturday, July 27, 2019.

Michael Roy Loveless

Michael Roy Loveless, 72, died suddenly on July 24, 2019, in Bentonvill­e, Ark.

He was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Lafayette, Ind., to Harold and Dorismae Loveless. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State University and had a career in education for over 25 years as assistant principal, director of student activities, basketball coach and teacher. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary, and retired to Bentonvill­e in 2014. He was a member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church and worked part-time as a substitute teacher in the Bentonvill­e Public Schools.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary; son, Matthew (Sandy); daughter, Melissa (Craig) Anderson of Bentonvill­e; six grandchild­ren; and one sister, Barbara Henk (John) of Lafayette, Ind.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 29, 2019, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church. He will be laid to rest in Lafayette.

Peggy Jo (Drake) Pike

Peggy Jo (Drake) Pike, 79, died on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Circle of Life Hospice

Center in Bentonvill­e, Ark.

She was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Southwest City, Mo., and was the first child of John and Goldie (Seabourn) Drake. She graduated from Grove Oklahoma High School, class of 1958. After graduation, she married Kennith Pike of Gravette, Ark., on Oct. 3, 1958. Kennith was in the Army their first year, where Peggy patiently waited his return. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this coming October. They made their home in Diamond Bar, Calif., where they operated a constructi­on business for many years. It was there they welcomed two sons, Leslie and Lance Pike. They moved to Redmond, Wash., where they ran a successful horse-boarding farm. She became an accomplish­ed equestrian rider and showed pleasure horses, winning several awards. They then moved back to Arkansas where they settled to raise their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jerry, Robert and John; and two sisters, Linda and Deborah.

Survivors include her husband Kennith; two sons, Leslie and Lance Pike of Decatur, Ark.; five sisters, Betty Tapp of Corning, Calif., Sharon Tapp of Jay, Okla., Twila Harvey of Ponca City, Okla., Donna Friday of Ethete, Wyo., and Carol King of Southwest City, Mo.; one brother, Randy of Farmers Branch, Texas; three granddaugh­ters; three grandsons; and 10 great-grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held at the Circle of Life Hospice Center in Bentonvill­e, Sunday, July 28, 2019.
