William (Bill) Androes

William (Bill) Androes, 93, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 25, 2020.

He was born March 13, 1926, in Newton, Kan., to Herman P. and Helen (Nightingale) Androes. He retired from Hawker Beechcraft of Wichita after 31 years of service. He attended St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Bella Vista and served as altar server and on the groundskeeping committee for several years. In Wichita, he served as Scoutmaster and Institutional Representative for Scout Troop 443. He enjoyed golf, serving on the Bella Vista Crime Watch program and building homes with Habitat for Humanity.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jean; his parents; two sisters, Ruth Mitchell and Marjorie Endres; and two brothers, Leroy and Marvin Androes.

He is survived by a son, Michael (Paula) of McPherson, Kan.; two daughters, Kathryn Downes (Ernie) of Kent, Wash., and Mary Jacqueline Androes of Alvin, Texas; one sister, Marcella Travis of Wichita; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Childress of Joplin, Mo., and Carolyn Preston of Wichita; and four grandchildren.

A rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of The Resurrection at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wichita, in a private service.
