Property Owners Association

Both BV Bar & Grill and Lakepoint Restaurants will be following the Governor’s guidelines on PPE, sanitizing and spacing through Phase 1. All diners must wear a facemask upon entry but can remove it once served. All dining staff and managers will wear fresh gloves and facemasks. Both restaurants will begin daily specials the week of May 18. Curbside dining at both locations will also continue for those not wishing to dine in.

There is no parking in the back of the park except for campers staying at the park. Please use the trailhead parking at the front of the park.

The annual Kayak Demo Days will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Lake Ann Park. Ozark Mountain Trading Company will be on hand with 50-plus kayaks and paddleboards of every style and function imaginable. Kayaks will be disinfected between use and the event will be spread over a large area to minimize the chance of transfer of pathogens. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist in matching customers with the proper kayak. Test one or test them all and plan to get wet.

Kids Fishing Derby originally scheduled for May 16 has been moved to Aug. 7 at the pond behind the Metfield Clubhouse. Local children between the ages of 3 and 15 are welcome to participate. POA membership is not necessary. Parents do not need a license but must not aid children in reeling in fish. Participants must provide their own bait and tackle. The event starts at 8 a.m. and runs to noon. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the pond. Call the lakes department at 479-8555068 with any questions.

The trap and skeet range reopened Saturday, May 16, with spring hours of 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. To help protect staff and customers, additional covid-19 protocols will be followed.

• Customers will only be allowed inside the Range Master building to use the restroom facility and purchase items.

• We ask that all non-shooters stay in their vehicles unless they are coaching.

Golf course maintenance during covid-19

Golf maintenance operation has changed for the foreseeable future due to covid-19. Two of the leading golf associations, The Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA) and The

United States Golf Association (USGA) have put together some minimum maintenance guidelines for courses during the covid-19 outbreak.

The guidelines address all phases of golf maintenance from mowing frequencies to bunker maintenance. The mowing guidelines reduce the time and number of employees needed to maintain a healthy stand of turf by cutting back on times selected areas are mowed, increasing mowing heights to allow for longer intervals between mowing and using plant growth regulators to manage growth rate and clipping yields. Golf maintenance will also decrease fertilizer applications, along with limiting irrigation and plant protectants to minimize excessive growth while still maintaining a healthy turf. What this translates to for the golfing public are longer roughs, shaggy fairways and potentially slower green speeds. Once the pandemic has passed, it should be quick to bring all areas back to the standard of maintenance golfers are accustomed to.

Bunker rakes have been removed (remember a bunker is a hazard) so the necessity to rake bunkers on a regular basis has diminished. Only what is necessary will be done to prevent weed encroachment and protect the integrity of the Better Billy Bunker liner systems in place on four of the Bella Vista courses.

Walton Arts Center — Hasan Minhaj has postponed his performance scheduled for May 30 at Walton Arts Center, while The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas’ two remaining Masterworks Performances and Arun

Luthra’s Konnakol Jazz Project have been canceled. Patrons with tickets to see Minhaj will be notified as soon as a new date has been confirmed.

With these four announcements, all shows for the remainder of the season at Walton Arts Center have now been rescheduled, postponed or canceled. Patrons can view a current list of shows according to their status at waltonartscenter.org/ ticketing-updates/. Performances are scheduled to resume at the start of the new season in September.

New performing arts opportunities

• Experience another culture with Indie Films India presented in partnership with the Fayetteville Film Festival. This virtual film festival features the screening of five short films by Indian filmmakers followed by a creative conversation with three of the filmmakers. The event is free but you must register, and you will receive an order confirmation and a viewing link that will be active from noon on Monday, May 11, until noon on Wednesday, May 13.
