New hours and closings for pools and beach

Metfield swimming pools closed for the season Sunday, Aug. 16.

Kingsdale pools will remain open through late September with limited staff as most of the team heads back to college and high school. The pools will be available for use with no lifeguards on deck during the weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lifeguards will be on deck during the weekends and weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closure date for Kingsdale pools will be announced at a later date.

The Beach at Lake Avalon will remain open only on weekends through Labor Day, which includes the dates of Aug. 29 and 30, Sept. 5, 6 and 7. After Labor Day, the Beach will close for the season.

Lake Rayburn drawdown

There will be a drawdown on Lake Rayburn this fall. This allows the POA to make repairs to the boat ramp and allows residents to make repairs to seawalls and docks. The drawdown will begin on Nov. 9. The lake should be down by Dec. 4 and will start refilling by March 1. The goal of the drawdown is three inches per day and six feet overall.

During the month of August, a team from the Bella Vista POA and the Bella Vista City Development Office will be out on Lake Rayburn looking for docks and seawalls in disrepair that may pose safety issues. Residents with dilapidated structures will receive a letter describing the issue at fault and will be directed to the proper permits required to take corrective action. Inspections are being done at this time so that contractors can be hired and work can be more easily accomplished during the coming lake drawdown.

Face mask requirements

The Bella Vista POA is following the governor’s executive order as it relates to requiring face (nose and mouth) covering/mask indoors and outdoors. Everyone must wear a mask to enter any POA facility. This now includes outdoor facilities such as the pool and beach. This mandate will be followed by POA staff, both indoor and outdoor employees, following the six-foot distancing guidelines in the executive order. For specific information on the order, please see Governor Hutchinson’s EO 20-43 https://governor.arkansas.gov/images/uploads/ executiveOrders/EO_2043.pdf.
