Joyce Eleanor Weldon Johnson
Joyce Eleanor Weldon Johnson, 95, of Bella Vista, Ark., died peacefully at home on Jan. 20, 2021.
She was born in Freemont, Mo., to Etta Jane Borders Weldon and Elzia Bryan Weldon on Jan. 7, 1926. She graduated from high school in 1944 in Neosho, Mo. She enjoyed music and sang in various musical groups at the USO in Camp Crowder during the years of WWII. She married Roy Johnson on May 1, 1949, in Neosho as she began her nursing career. Moving several times over the years, she stayed busy with numerous and varied committees and organizations while raising her children.
She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, golfing and traveling. She was a 32-year retired resident of Bella Vista and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Roy Lewis Johnson, in 2017; her parents; her sister, Martha Jo Murray (Bob); her brother, George Weldon (Peggy); and sonin-law, Ronald L. Martin.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Douglas Lewis Johnson (Melissa), Kathryn Johnson Martin, Roger Kent Johnson (Jill); four grandchildren; and a sisterand brother-in-law, Shirley (Johnson) and Bill Gray.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715, or to a charity of choice.
