Holiday Events Christmas Chaos Teen Night

5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3

Find the true meaning of Christmas and chaos, at Christmas Chaos Teen Night. The night will be filled with many fun Christmas movie inspired challenges and treats. Teen night is for ages 13-17. Please note that the library is closed during this event to ensure the safety of the teens. No regular library business will be conducted during Teen Night.

Fireside Café 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4

Warm up by the (virtual) fire and let your worries melt away at the Bella Vista Public Library on Saturday. The Northwest Arkansas Women’s Chorus will serenade you with Christmas songs from 1-1:45 p.m. The Highland Winds Clarinet Quartet will continue the Christmas cheer from 2-2:45 p.m. The Friends of the Bella Vista Public Library will be serving free hot chocolate and cider alongside a holiday book sale. This is the perfect time to relax, purchase a few Christmas presents and prepare for the holiday season.

Book Club Book Swap

3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 Members of the And the Author Is … ! and the Not Your Mama’s Romance Book Clubs are invited to a holiday book swap on Thursday, Dec. 9 at the Library. Please bring a book (wrapped or unwrapped) to swap. Participan­ts are encouraged to bring a gently used/like new book to swap. Light refreshmen­ts will be available. Visit the Encore Bookstore inside the library for high quality used books. Both book clubs will not meet outside of the book swap in December. Regularly scheduled meetings will return in January.

Dulcimer Music at the Library

Gary McCarty will be playing his dulcimer guitar in the library lobby on Thursday, Dec. 9, beginning at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 16, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Pull up a chair and enjoy Gary’s melodious tunes!

Stories with Santa

1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 Santa’s coming to town Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1-3 p.m. Snuggle up with hot cocoa and listen to Santa read stories. After storytime, children and families are invited to take pictures with Santa. Masks must be worn by all who would like their photo with Santa. All photos taken with Santa will be available on the library’s Facebook page.

Gingerbrea­d House Competitio­n

Put your creative skills to the test and enter the Bella Vista Public Library’s Gingerbrea­d House Competitio­n hosted by the Teen Advisory Board. Gingerbrea­d houses will be displayed in the hallway leading to the Children’s Department. Cast your vote for your favorite gingerbrea­d house from Dec. 13-18. Groups Knitting

We’re Hooked! Knitting & Crochet Club is open to knitting and crochet lovers of all levels. There will be an instructor to teach basic knitting and the library will provide knitting supplies. We’re Hooked! Knitting & Crochet Club will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bella Vista Public Library.

Tech Time

Each month, a librarian gives how-to lessons about services provided with your library card. December’s Tech Time features using your online library account. Topics include how to place holds and renew items, renew your library card, search for items and more. Tech Time will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in the Community Room of the Bella Vista Public Library.

True Crime Club

Get together with the True Crime Club at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, for a chill hangout where we’ll chit chat about all things true crime. December’s starter topic will be Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell. We will meet in person in the BVPL Community Room. Join the BVPL True Crime Club Facebook group for the latest news and other true crime discussion­s.

Meeting Rooms

The two meeting rooms inside the library are open for reservatio­n. In order to reserve a room, applicants must have: a library card in good standing, a completed room use applicatio­n and a signed copy of the room use policies. Call the library at 479-855-1753 for more informatio­n.

For the Family Family Storytime and Pre-School Storytime

Pre-School Storytime – Families are invited to join us for Pre-School Storytime. We meet at 9:30 a.m. at the library every Friday morning to sing, dance, listen to stories and make crafts. Pre-School Storytime is best for ages 1-5.

Family Storytime — For families with children ages 6-8, join us for age-appropriat­e crafts, stories and songs. Family Storytime meets every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the Library.

Teen Advisory Board

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) members meet once a month to plan Teen Nights, create events and work on service projects for the library and community. The next meeting will be from 5:306:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9.

Library

Help us expand the library’s parking lot. With the beautiful new addition at the Bella Vista Public Library, there will soon be a need for a larger parking lot. To donate to this project, please mail contributi­ons to the Bella Vista Library Foundation at 11 Dickens Place Bella Vista, AR 72714. Donations should be clearly designated for the parking lot expansion.

Hours of Operation

The Bella Vista Public Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.

The library will be closed from Dec. 23 to Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday and from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 for the New Year. The outdoor dropbox is open 24/7.
