president, said the Lyons festivities this year are a culmination of the determination and hard work of Lyons youth. Last year, youth allies at Lyons High School hosted a Pride parade.

Long himself stumbled upon the youth organizers at the Stone Cup last year.

As Pride approached this year, the nonprofit and youth came together to amplify the celebration, creating Lyons Pride.

Lyons Pride will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 18. The events will kick off from 9 to 11 a.m. with coffee, tea and conversation at The Stone Cup, 442 High St.

At noon, a sidewalk Pride Parade will leave Sandstone Park and loop around Main Street.

From noon to 3 p.m., participants will find Pride booths, face-painting and live music.

A rally with several speakers will take place at 1 p.m. at Sandstone Park.

Addressing the crowd that day will be Lily Berlin, youth peer support assistant for Out Boulder County. The day will be capped with a happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mainstage Brewing Company, 450 Main St.

“It’s going to be a full day and a lot of fun,” Long said, adding later: “I’m so proud of the youth that started it here in Lyons and stepped forward and said, ‘Let’s do this thing.'”

To bring recognition to Pride month, Long joined youth last Friday in painting several Lyons crosswalks along High Street in the colors of the progressive flag.

“It’s in a small community, where these grassroots efforts led by youth really change the world,” Moore said. “This is an example of that in practice.”

Moore also highlighted the numerous other events the nonprofit will host to celebrate Pride this month. Longmont will continue its Pride Festival downtown.

The festivities will take place between 1:15 and 6 p.m. June 11 at Fourth Avenue, between Main and Kimbark streets.

A visibility march along the downtown sidewalks will kick off at 1:15 p.m.

Those who want to take part can meet at Fourth Avenue and Main Street.

The route will follow Main north to Longs Peak and then Third Avenue south back to Main, returning to Fourth.

Participants are encouraged to dress in their most festive and colorful garb. All LGBTQ+ identities and allies are welcome.

Boulder’s Pride will run from 10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. June 12 in Boulder Central Park, 1212 Canyon Boulevard. A visibility march along the sidewalks will begin at 10:45 a.m., starting at the band shell. The route will follow Canyon Boulevard east to 15th Street, take 15th west on Pearl, wrapping back down 14th Street to Walnut Street and taking Walnut west to 13th Street, ending at the band shell. “All our partners are showing up with great resources,” Moore said.

“I can’t wait for all the hugs and smiles that are headed our way.”
