5A Broomfield

Gymnasts all across the state wrapped up the fall season last month, and the local ladies in particular put on quite a show at the Class 4A and 5A state meets. Broomfield claimed the 5A team state crown for the second straight year as Niwot stunned the competition with a third-place finish.

Thirteen gymnasts from Broomfield, Niwot and Legacy (Mountain Range) made their respective CHSAA allstate teams and Broomfield coach Mark Bogoger, unsurprisingly, was named coach of the year for leading his ladies to yet another championship.

Mountain Range by an impressive 2.550 points.

Mila Thompson made first team after nabbing second in vault (9.575) and sixth in bars (9.425). Kaya Duncan found her way onto second team after placing 12th in the all-around (8.675) with a strong performance in vault (9.375).

Mia Ritchie, the Daily Camera gymnast of the year, made second team after placing fourth in allaround (36.825) with just 1.5 points separating her from the all-around champion. Avery Kang added her name to second team after securing 15th on beam (9.100).

Kaia Bachrach finished 13th in the vault finals (9.275) to earn her way into honorable mention as Joey Ernst similarly wowed with ninth in beam (8.925). Maren Irvin, Broomfield’s third and final honorable mention, claimed 15th in the vault finals (9.050) and 12th in bars (8.975).

5A Mountain Range (Legacy)

Legacy student Kassie Chapman, the lone Lightning representative from Mountain Range’s team to make all-state on second team, finished eighth in the all-around (36.475) after placing 11th in the beam finals (8.800) and eighth on floor (9.300).

4A Niwot

Niwot’s Kylee Schlepp served as the team’s only representative on 4A’s first team after placing 13th in the all-around (35.350) with an individual title on vault (9.725). Only Maeve Flentie, who earned a spot on second team, had a better all-around score with a 35.725, good for eighth place. Flentie’s top-10 finish in all-around earned her the Times-call gymnast of the year.

Lilly O’neill joined Flentie on second team with 10th place in all-around (35.600) and fifth place in the beam finals (9.125). Isabella Foster and Claire Vardas rounded out the Cougars’ representation with honorable mentions as Foster flung herself to 15th in the bars finals (8.525) and Vardas went 10th in the beam finals (8.425), 15th in floor (8.325) and 13th in bars (8.650).
