Times-Call (Longmont)

T-C line 720-494-5485 Lawless driving Mead, Make-a-wish

- Editor’s note: You are correct. The original call was about H.J. Res. 24, which disapproved the Washington, D.C., council decision to allow noncitizens to vote in local elections. The editor’s note was intended to make clear that it was not a vote specifi

Longmont growth

Longmont doesn’t own the lots for sale or redevelopment in the city. Those are all normal people that own those private things. And they sell those lots for redevelopment. It’s a free market, where things are bought and sold. Longmont’s part in this is building codes and taxes. So folks, you need to quit complaining that Longmont needs to regulate all this growth. It’s going to happen, and they’re doing their part. Cheers.

Biden, balloon

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Ronald Reagan is dead, just like Gen. Washington and Gen. Eisenhower. I like the fact that Joe Biden listened to his generals and Pentagon advisers, (took) every military advice that he could get, before shooting down the mysterious (balloon) from China.

Noncitizen voting

• In regard to TC comment Saturday …: It was stated Colorado Congressional Reps. Degette and Neguse voted to allow D.C. to let noncitizens vote, and you said in an editorial comment that vote was not about that, but I might read H. Res. 866, “Recognizing that allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote devalues the franchise and diminishes the voting power of United States.” I highly recommend that you expound upon your editorial comment and where you came up with that. It sounds like it’s not correct.

• Your fact check regarding Congressional House Joint Resolution 24allowing illegals to vote is misleading, although technically you’re right. The vote was about nullifying the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022, which Neguse and Degette voted against. Thankfully, the joint resolution passed, and the act is nullified. What if we all got together and joined those that choose to run red lights, disregard speed and stop signs, drive with expired plates, and probably don’t have current insurance, either? It’ll be OK. You’ll be ignored by the law, just as these inconsiderate drivers are. It was really a joy to read about the Mead High School students’ support of Makea-wish. What a great change from all the bad news that we read about. Thank you, and job well done.
