Colorado’s talented receiving corps got even better Wednesday.

Former South Florida standout Xavier Weaver announced on social media that he is transferring to Colorado.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the second USF receiver to transfer to CU this winter, as Weaver will join former teammate Jimmy Horn Jr., in Boulder.

Weaver earned secondteam All-american Athletic Conference honors this past season after leading USF in catches (53), receiving yards (718) and receiving touchdowns (six) — despite playing in only nine of the Bulls’ 12 games.

Horn was second on the team in all three categories, with 37 catches for 551 yards and three touchdowns. Horn enrolled at CU in January, while Weaver will arrive in the summer.

A fifth-year

senior,

Weaver is taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA to all players from the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Weaver became one of the top receivers in USF history during his four seasons with the Bulls. Playing in 40 games, with 21 starts, Weaver caught 116 passes for 1,735 yards and eight touchdowns. He ranks fourth in USF in history in career receiving yard and sixth in career catches. Weaver led the Bulls in receiving the past two seasons.

A graduate of Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, Weaver was a three-star prospect in the 2019 class and he had 16 scholarship offers. In addition to CU, Weaver had offers from Oklahoma and West Virginia this winter.

Weaver is the 25th player from a four-year school to transfer to CU this winter. The Buffs have the nation’s top-ranked transfer class, according to 247Sports. com.
