Bloated population

City Council allows and promotes out-of-control development that circles the city, and now develops in the core of the city. We now have a bloated overpopulation creating traffic, crime and other big-city problems. To serve this bloated population, they want to build a new rec center (or) expand the library by taxing property owners. Next is the property tax increases for new schools, then a cultural center, ice skating facilities, etc., etc., to serve the bloated population that the city leaders created and nobody wanted. Keep one hand on your wallet and the other on a voting lever. The city leadership must change.

CHIPS and Science Act

Kudos to President Biden and the last congressional session for passing the CHIPS and Science Act, bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. and increasing the funding for science. Hopefully this will get paid for by raising some taxes. There are enough private jets at the Aspen airport.

Selfish officials

I have a question. Of all the people elected to public office, how many do you suppose are there for the benefit of the people, and how many are there for their own selfish reasons and for whatever they can gain? There appears to be several of those, along with those that are there to help people.

Firearm age

To all of the liberal Democrat lawmakers and anyone who supports raising the age to 21 to purchase a firearm: I now ask that you all support a bill to raise the age requirements for the Selective Service to 21 also. If at the age of 18, you feel a person is not responsible enough to own a firearm, then do not be a hypocrite and put one in my hands to find a war for you at 18.

U.N. and Russia

Regarding the Ukraine war: The nations that voted to stand with Russia should immediately be cut off from trade with all other countries in the world until they realize the error of their ways. If the United Nations doesn’t have the guts or the brains to do that, then the United Nations is a pointless entity.

Inmate calls

No. No phone calls. Inmates are being punished. They should have thought about their lives before they did what they did. No extra, and no free phone calls for inmates. Inmates are there to be punished. They get color television. They get three square meals a day. Heat. We’re all paying for this. No.

Gas prices

Why have our gas prices exploded here? I just left Florida, and it was $3.09 a gallon. And I get back to Longmont and it’s $4.09 a gallon? What is going on?
