New Visit Longmont chief: City ‘on the verge’ of joining ranks of top tourism destinations

Brian Walko: They need someone to start filling up that new downtown hotel when it’s built.

Jeff Noonan: Let’s work on north Longmont and the businesses up there.

Mark Trippensee: Tourism was only relevant in our poor little city, when it was listed in Hot Rod Magazine as one of the very top cruising cities in the United States. Way back in the ’80s, when it was fairly quiet, a cool little rock ’n’ roll town, and safe. The City Council has ruined the ideals in this city. Until they clean up the mess they’ve made, as a 45 year veteran, the phrase ‘tourism’ just makes me laugh.

Landon Robert Bain: I thought it was tech, not a huge tourism destination.

Kip Atkinson: Tourism ruins about everything it touches. Mike Waller: What is the tourist attraction of Longtucky? Meth heads on every corner, car theft, drug dealers operating out of motels.

King Soopers plans Frederick store

Victoria Price: (Colo.) 52 really needs to be widened before we add King Soopers and other retail stores. Our population has skyrocketed, and 52 can’t keep up with the amount of people that commute on 52. We have Safeway and Kings already.

Marti Janacaro-smith: I guess the King Soopers in Firestone isn’t considered part of the Carbon Valley? Just remodeled that one, too. Seems like a Target and some restaurants would be better at the new location.

Brooke Daily: People in Fort Lupton just patiently waiting for growth, just to have King Soopers put in a town that already has one five minutes away.

Amanda Wreyford Stuck Burkhalter: As a resident of Frederick. We do not desire a King Soopers when there is one 5 miles from this location that has been completely remodeled and upgraded.

Kaylee Dietz: How about we have some new restaurants and shopping places instead of another grocery store? The King Soopers in Firestone has been remodeled already and is getting a wine section. No need for another one.

Lisa Miller Domier: How about a Sprouts or Natural Grocer?

Longmont murder trial: Defendant Devan Schreiner chooses not to take stand

Kathy Eppler: May her child and the surviving family get the strength and support they need through this ordeal.

Sustainability, climate action on tap for Longmont City Council meeting

Dave Larison: Declaring a climate emergency for Longmont was one of the most ludicrous edicts that City Council has ever put out, purely driven by the green agenda. We are not in an emergency and none of the 10 action goals will change Longmont’s climate one bit.

Steven South: And nothing has changed, and we’re all still just fine.

Longmont City Council weighs climate action goals, legislative bills

Steven South: That was easy. Apparently all you have to do is virtue signal, buy all the people’s land out from under them and, of course, make it nearly impossible to build new products for residential sale.

Oskar Blues will open Dale’s Bar at Colorado Rapids soccer stadium

Lynda Kuesel Rademacher: I would prefer Pikes Peak Brewing or Bristol.

Cassa Gobie: Just sitting here trying to think of breweries of ill repute.

Witnesses, investigators say Erie driver was racing, driving 100 mph at time of Boulder crash

Raymond U Hayes: Judging by some of the Tesla drivers I’ve seen, I’m amazed we haven’t see more of this.

Tallis Salamatian: Bet he only gets a slap on the wrist. Easily could have killed somebody.

High Plains Bank celebrates 10 years in Longmont

Kaye Wicks: Congratulations High Plains Bank! The very best bank ever. Supports many community efforts! Cindy Budd Noble: Congrats to a great group of people! Kathy Crowder: Congratulations!

Krische Construction Inc.: Congratulations from all of us at Krische Construction Inc.

Co-defendant in Longmont shooting case has trial pushed back to September

Kathy Eppler: So glad that the (a) lawyer’s promotion helps the swift serving of justice, not. Almost two years after arrest there will finally be a trial. The victim’s surviving family and child will have to endure another trial and wait for justice. May the surviving family have strength, deep pockets, and find peace at the end.

Longmont police notes: Man issued summons for camping

Rockit Nickolas Donald Selman: Fix the homeless problem and stop raising rent.
