Michael Harrison went from a walk-on receiver to the most productive tight end at Colorado in more than a decade.

He will continue his college football career at another school, however.

Harrison and backup quarterback Kasen Weisman both announced intentions to enter the transfer portal on Monday, joining the hundreds of players around the country that are seeking greener pastures. The NCAA transfer portal opened on Monday for all players.

Walk-on receivers Cole Boscia, Dante Capolungo and Chernet Estes are also transferring.

Five other Buffs on scholarship previously announced transfer intentions, so the Buffs have now had 10 total players transfer since the end of the season.

Harrison, a walk-on from San Francisco, moved from receiver to tight end over the summer. He then caught 31 passes for 284 yards and five touchdowns for the Buffs (4-8, 1-8 Pac12) this season. It was the first 30-catch season for a CU tight end since Riar

Geer had 36 in 2009, and Harrison was just one shy of tying the CU record for touchdown receptions in a season by a tight end.

Harrison became a big part of the offense during the first half of the season, as he was targeted 34 times, catching 26 passes in the first six games.

In the sixth game, at Arizona State, he was targeted a season-high nine times. During the second half, however, he became an afterthought in the passing game. He was targeted 10 times, with five catches in the last six games.

“Time to take things to higher heights,” Harrison wrote in an Instagram post Sunday.

Harrison spent four seasons with the Buffs, playing in each of the last 36 games. He was primarily a special teams player the past two years, but did catch two passes for 12 yards in 2022.

Weisman joined the Buffs as a true freshman this past summer. He was one of two true freshmen quarterbacks, along with Ryan Staub. Weisman was fourth on the depth chart for most of the season and didn’t appear in a game.
