Fireworks show

• Obviously Fox Hill was a poor location for the fireworks, with the biggest issue being access and parking. Dickens Nature Area is an equally poor location for the same reasons. Parking for 8,000to 10,000 people would have to include crossing (Colo.) 119 and/ or (U.S.) 287, which is very dangerous, especially in the dark. The fairgrounds worked well, with lots of viewing and parking options. It should be returned there.

• I read about how there (might) be fireworks at Dickens Farm Nature Area. I am opposed to this. We poured a lot of money, millions of dollars, into fixing that area to make it welcoming for people. There’s a lot of natural plantings and things, and having 8,000people tromping through there is just going to be very destructive and also be very disruptive to any wildlife moving along that river corridor. So, I really advise moving the fireworks display to the fairgrounds, where large (numbers) of people are meant to go.

• When the (fireworks show) was held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, there were never any issues — plenty of room for people and a safe environment. … Now, they’re proposing to go to the Dickens Farm, which is a natural area, with thousands of people there. … That area would be damaged. … It should be going back to the Boulder County Fairgrounds.

• This is in reference to the Fourth of July at Dickens Nature Area. The fairgrounds worked well because people had many options for viewing, including Roger’s Grove, Target and Home Depot parking lots; Sunset Golf Course; and lots and lots of homes in the neighborhoods to the north.
