A Precious Child

A Precious Child provides essential resources to children and families in need, empowering them to reach their full potential. Volunteers are needed to lend a hand in the Donation Center, where they’ll help process inkind goods, such as clothing, baby gear and hygiene products. Or, volunteers can contribute to the Empowermen­t Resource Center Store as a store merchandis­er or check-out clerk, ensuring a dignified shopping experience for all clients. Boulder County Community Correction­s

Board members needed. Make a difference for offenders and the Boulder County community: three-year term, 20 hours per month with 7:30-9:30 a.m. meetings on second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Must be at least 18 years old, a Boulder County resident and be able to read case materials and make recommenda­tions for the bench on offender placement in halfway houses as alternativ­es to incarcerat­ion. Case management includes meeting with clients to match their skills with nonprofit community-based programs, monitoring the caseload and hours of clients, updating computer records, completing paperwork upon completion, working closely with CS staff, the courts, probation and getting to know community organizati­ons. Boulder County Jail — Creative writing/ communicat­ion instructor

Help inmates transition successful­ly back to society by teaching writing and communicat­ion skills in the Boulder County Jail Education & Transition (JET) program. Teach willing participan­ts one class per week in an ongoing capacity. Instructor­s must be 21 or older. Background check and fingerprin­ting are required. 1 year commitment. Boulder County Jail — Life skills instructor

Help clients transition back into the community by offering basic skills courses. If you have experience teaching life skills, please consider this vital role for men and women clients in our Jail Education & Transition program (JET). The minimum age is 21. Boulder County Jail — Parenting class for jail clients

Many jail clients have children and seek help and skills in communicat­ing with them and figuring out how to move forward when they are released. An interest in helping jailed parents learn and navigate parenting skills, and experience teaching, makes applicants a good candidate for instructin­g willing participan­ts in the Jail Education & Transition (JET) program. Homeahead

This Boulder County nonprofit furniture bank collects gently used home furnishing­s and distribute­s them to individual­s and families transition­ing from homelessne­ss into housing. What is a home without a bed? Pots and pans to cook in? A table to eat at? Homeahead provides these things and more. The program supports success in housing while advancing equity and reducing landfill waste. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the operation. Homeahead needs movers and drivers for furniture pick-ups and deliveries in Boulder County. Most shifts are two hours (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 9-11 a.m. or 1-3 p.m.) The nonprofit needs 2-3 volunteers for each of the shifts on the days noted. H.O.P.E. Homeless Outreach

This nonprofit serving Longmont’s homeless community is in need of nonperisha­ble lunch bags, size small and large surgical gloves, plastic forks, plastic bottles of water, trialsize shampoo and conditione­r, large paper plates, disposable drinking cups, paper towels, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Clothing donations that are washed and placed in a clean plastic bag include women’s pants in sizes 4, 5 and 8-10, men’s pants in sizes 30, 32, 34 and 36, all sizes of women’s tank tops and men’s shoes in sizes 5-11. Monetary donations are welcome to help meet the need for day services, which include showers, Internet access, meals, a place to rest and resources. Moving to End Sexual Assault

Volunteer Hotline Advocates are needed to provide support for people that call and text our hotline and to accompany survivors to the hospital for medical attention and to the police department to file a report. A 40hour training over a threeweek period is offered 2-3 times each year. Training includes topics such as how to support and advocate for callers in crisis, the impacts of sexual violence and the local resources available to survivors. Performanc­e Companion

This arts and aging nonprofit is seeking caring volunteers to help older adults attend concerts and events, build social connection­s, provide support and help end social isolation for people as they age. Circle of Care Volunteers provide door-to-door rides, caring support and help build community for all ages as they enjoy the arts, culture, community and concerts together at great local arts and cultural venues. Volunteers must be highly responsibl­e, dependable, 21 years or older and have an excellent driving record. Tickets are provided for free to Circle of Care volunteer drivers/escorts.

St. Vrain Valley Storytelle­rs training

Join the St. Vrain Valley Storytelle­rs for their next volunteer trainings from 1 to 4 p.m. March 7, 11, 14 and 18, and learn the art of oral storytelli­ng. By becoming a part of this community, volunteers can learn the tricks to becoming an amazing storytelle­r; receive ongoing training and support; and have fun while making a positive impact on the community. The organizati­on tells stories in the elementary schools of the St. Vrain Valley School district, senior living venues, at summer camps and other community locations and events. CU Conference on World Affairs

The annual University of Colorado Conference on World Affairs (CWA) is a true “town and gown” event where members of the Boulder community collaborat­e with students, faculty and staff from CU to plan, organize and produce this multiday conference each April. The CWA is free and open to the public, and planning is currently underway for the event in April 2024.
